Cry Baby is the debut studio album by American recording artist Melanie Martinez. It was released on August 14, 2015, by Atlantic Records through digital download, CD and vinyl. The album was supported by the release three singles. Two singles preceded the album's release: lead single "Pity Party", was released on June 2, 2015, while the second single, "Soap", was released on July 10, 2015. The third and final single from the album, "Sippy Cup" was released July 31, 2015. Cry Baby is a visual concept album. The album is labeled as an alternative and electropop release, and received generally positive reviews from critics. In February 2017, the album was ceritified Platinum, after earning 1 million album-equivalent units.
On November 25, 2016, Martinez released an EP titled Cry Baby's Extra Clutter. The EP, released exclusively on vinyl, consisted of the three bonus tracks from Cry Baby, and "Gingerbread Man", which was released for Christmas of 2015.

I don't know what it is.. I have never been one to count down the days to an album release or to even freak out over an album release. I first noticed her on The Voice, as I'm sure most people did, and I have never been this exited for an album. She is a one of a kind. Now, speaking from a non-biased point of view. The album is kinda dark, much of her work has been, as the album is about going slowly insane. If you're one to not look at lyrics too closely, than you will be presented with suprisingly catchy and lighthearted tones.

I haven't listened to it all yet, but already love it This album just screams originality! I love how Melanie used this baby perspective in most of her songs, i've just never heard of anyone doing that in todays music. When I look for other singers compared to Melanie, I'm dissapointed. When I come back to Melanie, I'm like thank god. I think that's a good sign. LOVE THIS ALBUM! HIGHLY RECCOMEND ANY WHO ARE LOOKING FOR ORIGINALITY!!!

I just pre-ordered it First time I'm buying music and she is totally worth it. I usually just use YouTube for my music fix. But she is amazing and deserves every last cent(updated) I literally love all her songs on this album, I usually only like maybe 2 songs on an album. She should totally be on the charts with these songs, if not topping them. Laters crybabies 🍼😀💦

Issue with Digital Copy So some time ago I bought and paid for the EXPLICIT deluxe edition of this album because I prefer my music uncensored and unedited. Now recently I have tried listening to this version that I paid for and have come to find out that even though it claims it is EXPLICIT and supposedly an unedited copy...every single track has been EDITED OVER. Wtf is this!!!??? I paid almost $15 for this copy of the album EXPECTING UNEDITED CONTENT. I'm furious to say the least! I would like a refund if this can't be resolved.

NEVER TURNING BACK Once I saw her on the voice I knew that I was in love with her work. Then I heard dollhouse and then I got interested. I checked her channel once a month to see if there was anything new and I loved what was there. I always couldn't wait for the next song and then this album came out and I was dead with excitment! If you like corky things, this is something you may want to try.

GREAT ALBUM HOWEVER... This whole album is amazing and the production, lyrics and style of the album is a true work of art. Melanie is a very talented artist and is on my artists to watch. I adore the album. I removed a star tho because after the album my weave was snatched and i had to walk down to the store to buy a new weave. Other than that 5 stars!!!

Amazing Dark Pop Album Crybaby is one of those albums where every song is amazing and adds to the concept of the album. The songs are catchy and have lyrical meaning. This is not a typical bubblegum pop album, its filled with raw emotions of being a young adult like in "Mrs. Potato Head"," Sippy Cup", and " Mad Hatter". Some of the songs are danceable, but contain dark lyrics like " Soap" and " Pity Party". Easily one of the best albums of the year. If you can, buy the physical album which comes with an actual storybook!

Try it out! Melanie is amazing! All of her songs are absolutely incredible, her lyrics are creative and unlike other artists. Not to mention, the beats and sounds fit so well with her theme. It took me a few times to like some songs but now I'm listening to them all the time! Definitely go check her out!! Or better yet, buy her album!

Counting Down The Days Along with many of you here, I never buy music but Melanie is definitely worth it! I LOVE the beautiful dark fairytale told in her cry baby album! She's so weird... I LOVE IT! There's so many good things to say about this album. I think what I enjoy most is the toy sounds implemented into the instrumentals. This whole album represents Melanie's creativity and imaginative style. If you're tired of the same old stuff on the radio, be sure to give this a try, you won't regret it!

So Original! Helps me get through my depression Melanie Martinez is essentially the music artist that I have stayed with and listened to the longest. Mostly because her music has been able to speak to me personally and and help me cope with my depression. I am gratefeul I found her music because if I hadn't I probably would have coped withy depression in more risky ways. So I owe many thanks to this album. I'm now forever a Crybaby!!! And a proud one at that!

I hardly purchase music online but this album is so worth it! and I hear she uses her own money to make her awesome videos that I'm in awe with. She's so original and her creativity is amazing. Just wonderful! I was so excited to learn that Melanie had come out with an album! I love all of her songs. They all seem so innocent and child-like, but there is a dark twist to them. The melodies are fantastic and her voice is beautiful. The music videos are really cool and add to the innocent, but twisted theme. I just love it and can't wait to hear more from her!

She's amazing I love her style. Mixing happy, fairy tale-esque sounds and beats with dark, morbid lyrics and themes is simply genius. My only regret is not watching The Voice while she was on it.

I usually never purchase music, because I'm a minor with access to Youtube to MP3 websites. However, I'm purchasing these songs for a few reasons. I want to support the artist, for one. Secondly, I want the full audio quality as opposed to Youtubes, as it lowers the quality considerably and it bothers me quite a bit. So, if youre like me and have that same problem and enjoy the music, I'd say its worth the 11 dollars.

Melanie is my queen <3 I love all her music. When I first listened to her album I died because it was so awesome.I instantly fell in love with her voice,her lyrics,the music and just her as an artist and as a person.She deserves everything that's coming her way (obviously good luck).I just love how innocently dark her lyrics are. I also adore how she tells an entire story just through music. She's an artist that is soooo hard to come by. One day I would love to see her perform live. Extremely Creative Cry Baby gives you a peak into her life with this album. A very sinister, disturbing peak. We are exposed to sexual assault with Tag, You're It, murder with Milk and Cookies, heart break with Cake, Soap, and Play Date to name a few, and insanity with Mad Hatter just to name a few of the issues addressed; all with their own epic beats. Soap having the bubble type beat drop, Carousel having the carnival vibe. Very well produced and thought out, each song tells it's own story in chronological order. Part 2 plz

Exceptionally Talented Singer, Unique Sound to Music Melanie is by far one of my favorite singers/songwriters. Her ability to tell stories through her music as well as she does is what puts her ahead of many artists for me. She far exceeded my expectations! I've never, ever heard another album purely based off of the sounds and aesthetics of childhood toys- and done so well. There's not a single song off of this album I haven't come to love since I purchased it. Very excited for what's to come!

Lady Gaga is better / New album 2016 She's alright. Half of these songs could have used better producing that's for sure. Soap, Carousel (From last year), Pity Party and Cake are the only good ones.
