Lost my boy Duke, Jan 5, 2011. He was only about 2 yrs old but the joy he brought in my life in the extremely short time I had him can never be replaced. He was what got me through some tough times. Taking him for a run ALWAYS made me feel better. This song and video got me in the feels.
Most people associate this song with their dogs because of the music video. But, this song means something else entirely. It's about a couple who's relationship is failing, and the guy wants his girlfriend to feel happier, even if it means if he has to leave her so she could be happy once again. It's touching because he's showing care to his girl no matter what, even if he has to break up. The music video was cute, but it didn't really speak the lyrics into a video accurately.
I watched the video and it was sad, 2 weeks later my 15yo dog passed and it took on a whole new meaning. It was like losing a child and best friend at the same time and this song helped me grieve. Like the song regardless but that video is powerful.
I totally LOVE IT!!!!!! At one point I got so emotional watching the video, that silent tears ran down my cheeks.......The video made me remember about my own Golden Retriever, Casper.....He died last year....I got really depressed & even din't eat properly for about 3 months...still miss him very much.....
This kinda reminds me of George Steinbeck's "Of Mice And Men" because Lennie says he'll go off and live in the hills if George doesn't want him, because George always says he'd be so much better off without Lennie on his tail. But the truth is, neither of them are going to leave each other. Their friendship is so strong that they can't.
This song is so emotionally moving, even its unplugged version. The mv always gets me crying. I have a 4 year old schnoodle who I love to death and can't imagine my life without. I don't know what I'd do if I lost him. Love this song and all its parts 💗
