Another Hit from A Gospel Favorite I don't think you understand how "Intercession" has hit me...I felt as if the Spirit was in the studio when they recorded that. The other songs are pretty good, especially "When" with Kom Burrell and Lalah Hathaway. This is another goodie from one of my favorites in Gospel music.
Kirk. Kirk. Kirk. He hit it out the park...AGAIN. New material but still familiar. He brought back that home feel. I felt little again just listening to his music. Today's sound w/ a homey feeling to it. It brought me to war... Then to worship... Then to that point of "I feel you. I been there." Its phenomenal. I missed ya Unc. #4Real
He did it again! Amazing Of course Kirk never fails with great music but this track Intercession. My God he took me straight in worship. Stuck in the car face wet trying to get myself together.
Okay It was okay. I liked the first track, the poem. And I liked I wanna be happy. I expected more. The songs felt empty. The vocals needed to be worked on. The message in each song were facts, but delivery could have been better.
Ya I don't want to be a fanboy and gush over any and every thing just because I like (most of) Kirk's previous work. I was starting to think he was washed up honestly because it took so long for this to come out. Having said that, I thin kit's hi sbest work. The signature feel is there but with fresh sounds, mainly in the production. He seems to have worked in the studio on polishing the sound, mixing a lot and it think it really pays off in a more refined, perfected product. I'm rather impressed actually. He just seems like a total pro, he knows how to offer something new but familiar. The subject matter is a little hard for me to relate to, the "anointing" of Rebirth is not there, but overall still solild theology even if sometimes wishy-washy lyrics. But musically this is a home run... more like a grand slam! He shows sensitivity in writing ballads and uses orchestration so well, and this time I find he uses more modern sounds than previous records but thrown in tastefully and seamlessly. Vocal arranging is absolutely fantastic of course. Songwriting is pretty masterful -he knows how to hit you with unexpected changes and drops some slick tricks.
Season of Grace I absolutely love this album. Truly speaks what season the body of Christ is in. People are tired of religion and tradition!! We want God, not rules and regulations!! It's time to spread the grace of God and His love, it's room for everyone at the cross. Kirk Franklin, thank you for your obedience!!
