Saint Heron is a compilation album released by Solange Knowles' record label, Saint Records, on November 11, 2013. It features the original recordings of several contemporary R&B artists, including Knowles, Jhené Aiko, Cassie, BC Kingdom, Jade De LaFleur, Kelela, Kingdom, Petite Noir, Iman Omari, Sampha, India Shawn and Starchild. The intent of the album was to "feature, highlight and align a new movement of contemporary, genre-defying R&B visionaries" and to serve as a "segue into the diverse evolution of these independent artists as they share their voices and words as only they can – through pure, unadulterated music."
Avalanche is the second studio album by Danish soul pop duo Quadron. It was released on 31 May 2013 through Vested in Culture and Epic Records. Upon its release, Avalanche received positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 72, which indicates "generally favorable reviews", based on nine reviews. Despite its positive reception, the album was a relative commercial failure, only peaking at number 115 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. In the group's native Denmark the album archived greater commercial success, spending 12 weeks in the top 10 of the charts and was eventually certified gold for 10,000 copies sold.

Goldenheart is the second studio album by American singer Dawn Richard. It was released on January 15, 2013, by Our Dawn Entertainment. After Richard's group Diddy – Dirty Money disbanded in 2012, the singer continued to develop her musical identity and worked with creative partner and manager Andrew "Druski" Scott, who co-wrote Goldenheart with her. It is the first in a trilogy of albums by Richard about love, loss, and redemption.
Goldenheart is an eccentric R&B album that draws on dream pop, alternative, and dance genres. Its mostly midtempo songs have strong grooves and feature synthesizers, string settings, vintage keyboards, and an array of percussive sounds. A post-breakup concept album, Richard's songwriting poses relationships and personal subjects as epic tales through magical, medieval imagery and allusions to high fantasy and science fiction tropes.
The album was released independently by Richard and promoted with the lead single "'86". It debuted at number 137 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 3,000 copies in its first week.
