Three decades after the release of Madonna's 1983 self-titled debut, the icon's 12th studio album is a burst of club pop aimed directly at dance floors. At 53, Madonna's reveling in the good times, high drama and post-divorce declarations. The lead single "Give Me All Your Luvin'," featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., is a low point, but "Turn Up the Radio," which saunters like a cheery '80s classic, and ballads "Masterpiece" and "Falling Free" are unexpected and strong. The nutty, vengeful "Gang Bang" is accentuated with cinematic gunshots and Madonna mocking "Shot you dead, shot my lover in the head." Madonna's daughter Lourdes joins her on "Superstar," while on "I Don't Give A…" she reveals: "I tried to be your wife, diminished myself, and it swallowed my life."
