Many bands evolve and this is best done when left to the artist. This album is purely a creation of studio execs. Gone are the powerful vocals and absolutely amazing guitar. The sparks are there, but none ignite. Fade Out being the closest. Too many artists lose thier way once the big labels call the shots. The Paper Kites changed for their album Twelvefour and hit it out of the park! I was lucky to see his last show in Orlando. Hearing his raw vocal talent in songs such as Scars is haunting.
To those who are saying this album isn't as good as his first please give it a solid listen. James Bay is beyond his years and a magnificent musician. This album start to finish is perfection. It's just as good or better than the first. Look forward to more to come
Let me tell you why I love this album so much! I just want to say one thing! Perfect! This song is perfect the lyrics are perfect the voice is perfect and the music is perfect! What I like most about the song is the new sounds in the album! I listened to the song many times over, the words and the lyrics are amazing! I love the music and the beautiful musical sounds of the guitar and the keyboards and the drums! I love it! I bought this album because of its beautiful music, lyrics and because it is beautiful and it's a great song!
Love this album so much!!! I wasn't expecting such a switch up from his old stuff and so much diversity in the tracks soundwise but I'm definitely loving it!! Excuse me while I put this album on repeat for a couple weeks 😋
Not a bad album in its own right, but it's a very different sound to Chaos and the Calm. The acoustic-folk feel is still there in places but many tracks sound overproduced. A shame really as James Bay's sound really didn't need anything changing.
Such a departure from his previous album Chaos and the Calm. If you're looking for something similar be prepared or you'll be disappointed. Over produced tracks made me distant myself from his vocals that I loved so much.
