Pressure Off (feat. Janelle Monáe and Nile Rodgers)
LOOOONG-time fan; not clicking I have been a loyal DD fan since 1982, and eagerly look forward to their new releases. This is the first leading single of theirs that hasn't quite clicked with me. And that's ok - not every song, even from your favorite band, is going to click. I will remain loyal as always, though, and buy the album -- and catch some of the upcoming tour dates!
This is an incredibly strong, funky, upbeat, uplifting track. If "All You Need Is Now" was the proverbial follow-up to "Rio", then this very well could be the proverbial follow-up to "Notorious". If you're a fan of Nile Rodgers, Daft Punk, Mark Ronson, or pop in general, you're going to love this song. "Pressure Off" has the potential to be the song of the summer.
i just finally got hold of this song in full like everyone else and i just can't stop playing it. It has to be the best dance song ever by duran. Even if your not a fan, its easy to get hooked into the fantastic chorus and catchy tune they have made thanks to nile rodgers who also made them no1 with the reflex and you can see why he's brilliant at what he does. i just hope they make a video for it and promote the song on tv worldwide and get this song no1 in the charts where it belongs. I couldn't believe they could beat anything they done in the past but how wrong i was. its perfect and with Janelle on board has completed it 100 percent. Everyone has to buy it and play it till their head explodes. if this song is awesome whats the rest of the album going to sound like. its well worth waiting 5 years for. Please Duran get on TV with this song soon.
Should come as no surprise that this has a "7 and the Ragged Tiger" or "Nortious" feel. Niles Rodgers gave "The Reflex" a funky makeover back in the 80s and he is back. I like the positive feel of the song. Do not care "step it" thing they start with and inject here and there. The melody is good and beat is solid. If you missed out "Red Carpet Massacre" or "All You Need Is Now" those were albums that I think were underrated. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the "Paper Gods" sounds, but it might be another "7 and the Ragged Tiger" which is okay. "Rio" and "Duran Duran (1993 aka The Wedding Album)" are still their best work.
Long time fan This song is the first duran duran song I do not like. And the album art work is even worse. Sorry my first bad review and hopefully last for my all time favorite band.
Great rhythm and has a fresh sound yet still has that distinctive "Duran vibe" to it. I've been listening to it on repeat and the lyrics keep running through my head. Infectious hook. Great song to lead off Paper Gods! Will be AMAZING when I hear it LIVE!
