Five Days In July
Five Days in July is the fifth studio album by Canadian country-rock band Blue Rodeo. It was released by WEA on October 26, 1993 in Canada and Discovery Records on September 27, 1994 in the United States. The band's most commercially successful album, it has been certified six times platinum as of 2008.
The album was recorded on singer/guitarist Greg Keelor's farm in Southern Ontario in July 1993. While the band originally intended for the recordings to serve only as demos, they found that the songs had a warmth and spontaneity that warranted releasing the collection as an album. Guest musicians on the album include Sarah McLachlan, Colin Linden and Anne Bourne. This album was keyboardist James Gray's first album with the band.
This album is supposed to be a tribute to the Harvest-era Neil Young sound.
"5 Days in May", "Hasn't Hit Me Yet" and "Bad Timing" were notable hit singles for the band.
Radio Love Songs - The Singles Collection
Radio Love Songs: The Singles Collection is a 2002 greatest hits collection by Canadian rock group, 54-40. It also contains two new songs, "Love Rush" and "Plenty Emotion".
Tracks from the band's 1990s albums are all grouped together, and in reverse chronological order from 2000's Casual Viewin' to 1992's Dear Dear; each block is interspersed with one of the band's hits from their Warner Brothers period re-recorded.
Living Under June
Living Under June is the second album by Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden, released in August 1994.
"Could I Be Your Girl", "Insensitive" and "Good Mother" were all significant hits for Arden in Canada, with "Wonderdrug", "Unloved" and "Looking for It" also becoming Canadian adult-contemporary hits. "Insensitive" was Arden's biggest hit internationally, entering the Top 40 in several countries, including Italy and the United States. In the U.S., "Could I Be Your Girl" was also a minor adult contemporary chart hit. Total worldwide sales for this album come to 1.3 million, with 600,000 Canadian, and 500,000 US.
Jackson Browne sings as a duet on "Unloved".
The video for "Good Mother", directed by Jeth Weinrich, won the Juno Award for Video of the Year at the 1996 Juno Awards. Weinrich also directed the video for "Insensitive", which was a nominee for the same award, but did not win, at the 1995 Juno Awards.
Save This House
Spirit Of The West
Save This House is a 1990 album by Spirit of the West.
It was the band's first album for Warner Music Canada, and their first with Linda McRae. Although still a relatively traditional folk album, its release on a major label meant that it was the band's first album to expand their fan base significantly beyond the folk music scene. The title track, an energetically percussive environmental anthem, was a notable hit for the band on campus radio. However, despite earning a platinum record, the album was not a mainstream commercial breakthrough; the band would achieve that with its next album, 1991's Go Figure.
The album's best-known song, however, is "Home for a Rest". While never a mainstream chart hit for the band, it has become by far their most famous song. Its joyous Pogues-like rhythm and lyrics about a drinking spree have made it an enduring frosh week anthem at Canadian colleges and universities. In 2005, "Home for a Rest" was also named the 22nd greatest Canadian song of all time on CBC Radio One's 50 Tracks: The Canadian Version.
The band toured Canada and Great Britain in support of this album. Their British tour was as a supporting act for The Wonder Stuff.
