On the second installment of Earth's opus, the doom metal troupe flex their genre-defying muscles once again. Recorded in the same two weeks as its 2011 predecessor, this 5-song addendum to the expansive Angels of Darkness I showcases a more demure dive into ambiance for the all-instrumental four-piece. Opening with the hushed "Sigil of Brass," and careening into even more mellow, slow-moving improvisational jams like the lengthy "Waltz (A Multiplicity of Doors)," the album finds cello and bass taking center stage over Dylan Carlson's famed guitar. Full of surprises but never devoid of complexity, this beautifully understated album unfolds deep, moody layers of sound upon each fleeting listen.
