Born and raised in Lansing, MI, Cyrus Hutchings began as one emcee in a rapper/singer/producer duo with Thomas "phourthelove" Fentress. Releasing their debut EP, The Quel Table, they garnered a relatively strong local following and partnership with Fusionshows, a booking agency out of Lansing, MI, granting them the opportunity to open for much larger acts. Some of these acts included Big Sean, Chance The Rapper, Machine Gun Kelly, Vic Mensa, Dizzy Wright, Acehood, MisterWives and many, many more.
While developing their live show, they also completed the recording of their debut full length project, Colors & Other Things, and released it in the summer of 2014. The project caught the attention of Michigan-based independent record label, The Specktators Collective, who brought Cyrus on as a solo act.
Upon signing, Cyrus began the recording of his debut solo EP, Love, Cyrus, and the project was released in May of 2015 to platforms such as Youtube, Soundcloud, iTunes and all other major streaming services. A standout from the project, Northside, has acquired well over a million streams across Spotify, Youtube and Soundcloud to date. Following the strong release, Cyrus finished enough material for two to three albums over the course of the next 12 months, and eventually settled on 18 records. These records became his debut album, We Should Just Enjoy Ourselves, which was officially released on October 28th of 2016 and charted at #23 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart.
