Their debut album Suddenly Yours was released in October 2010 and peaked at number 197 on the Billboard 200. In September 2011, Zach, Cameron, and Michael released their second studio album entitled All the Way. All the Way peaked at 49 on the Billboard 200, a considerable improvement from their first album.
On August 4, 2013, the band went on indefinite hiatus.

In 2007, ¡Viva la Cobra! was released, which served as the band's first record featuring the complete lineup. On October 21, 2014, Suarez and Blackinton left the band to "start a new chapter in [their] lives in production and songwriting". The band formally announced two new members, Eric Halvorsen and Andy Barr on October 29 and November 7, 2014 through social media.
After two independent releases, Owl City gained mainstream popularity with the 2009 major label debut album Ocean Eyes, which includes the six-time platinum single "Fireflies". The album was certified platinum in the United States in April 2010.

The third and fourth singles "Lightning" and "Warzone" hit number two and number 21, respectively, in the UK.
