One Direction are Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. All five boys auditioned for the UK X Factor as solo artists. However, at the suggestion of Simon Cowell and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger they joined forces as a group, quickly becoming one of the competition’s most popular acts of all time, finishing in the final three and garnering a gigantic and loyal fan-base along the way.

Lloyd's debut single "Swagger Jagger" was released in July 2011. The single entered at number one on the UK Singles Chart and number two in the Republic of Ireland. Her second single "With Ur Love" was released on 31 October 2011, featuring Mike Posner, and peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart, and number five in Ireland, preceding her debut album, Sticks and Stones, which peaked at number four in the UK Albums Chart and number seven in Ireland. She debuted her third single "Want U Back" on 22 May 2012 in the United States.
In 2009, Brown received much media attention after pleading guilty to felony assault of his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna; he was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service. His third album Graffiti was released later that year, and included the top-twenty single "I Can Transform Ya".
The band's debut album, The Wanted, was released on 25 October 2010 and peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart. Mindless Behavior toured with the Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber and Jason Derülo, and was the sole opening act for Janet Jackson's 2011 tour. Mindless Behavior also headlined the first BET Closer to My Dreams Tour alongside Diggy Simmons, Lil Twist, Tyga, Trevante and Jawan Harris. In 2011, Mindless Behavior headlined the SCREAM Tour with Diggy Simmons and featuring The OMG Girlz, Jacob Latimore, and Hamiliton Park. They have been predicted as Future Stars by This Must Be Pop.
In July 2012, they embarked their own 25-city tour, with opening acts Jacob Latimore, Lil Twist, and rising star Kayla Brianna.
In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. As of May 2009, before the release of Lines, Vines and Trying Times, they had sold over eight million albums worldwide.
Two years after releasing his last single, Chance is set to release his second studio album, Planet X, in 2015. The debut single from the album, Thrilla in Manila was released on August 11, 2014.
