About the artist
Screambird is a trance music project out of northeast Ohio. Daniel J. McKeown is the producer for all Screambird tracks. With roots in the Chicago area, Dan went to Michigan State for college where he played guitar a lot on the same Telecaster that he later recorded with on early Screambird tracks, after playing casually the last year of high school with a few friends on his Les Paul. After college Dan moved to San Francisco, where he met his future wife Jessica and listened to lots of hardcore West Coast house music at small clubs, as well as seeing a few of the big trance acts as they came through town. After moving to Ohio and getting married, Dan got a hold of his guitars again after his two brothers used them on and off while he was out West. A couple years later Dan released a solo EP and then a couple albums in collaboration with his wife Jessica from their band Neener called Neener 1 and Neener 2. In 2011 Dan released the first two Screambird tracks, whose sounds reflect more of the progressive house and trance influences than the more alternative rock sound of Neener. Screambird also remixed a song called "Dance With The Dinosaur" on Neener's 2012 album called Neener 2. Screambird is named after Dan's bird Dodger, whose screaming squawks are featured in several tracks.
