Edgar Froese

Edgar Willmar Froese was a German artist and electronic music pioneer, best known for founding the electronic music group Tangerine Dream. Although his solo and group recordings prior to 2003 name him as "Edgar Froese", his solo albums from 2003 onwards bear the name "Edgar W. Froese".

Albums

Stuntman is the fifth solo album released by Tangerine Dream leader Edgar Froese, in 1979.
Froese later remixed the album and released it with a new cover.
The album utilizes much the same instruments and equipment heard on Froese's previous albums; electric guitar, Moog Synthesizer, Mellotron, PPG 340/360, and other keyboards. On this release there are six tracks instead of two side-long tracks as found on, for example, his album Epsilon in Malaysian Pale.

Ages is Tangerine Dream leader Edgar Froese's fourth studio album, released in 1978.
Originally a double LP, it was reissued by Virgin Records in 1997 on one CD, with the closing track "Golgatha and the Circle Closes" missing. Froese has since remixed the album and released it on his own Eastgate label in 2005. This version also omitted a track, but not the same one as before, and another song, "Metropolis", was shortened.
The album was recorded in Autumn 1977 at Amber Studios in Berlin. The drums and percussion were played by Klaus Krüger who was in Tangerine Dream at the time. Some parts of songs on the album were later reused on Tangerine Dream's albums, most notably "Nights of Automatic Women", which is very similar to "Madrigal Meridian" from Cyclone. Before the album was released, "Ode to Granny A" was released in an abridged form as the b-side to Tangerine Dream's live single "Encore", under the title "Hobo March".

Aqua is the debut solo album by Tangerine Dream frontman Edgar Froese, released in 1974.
It was originally released in two different mixes, one by Brain Records in Germany, and the other by Virgin Records in the rest of the world. There is also a re-recorded version from 2005 on Eastgate.
One notable feature of the album is that some of the sound effects on the track "NGC 891" were recorded using what is described as a "revolutionary artificial head system", basically microphones in the ear canals of a dummy head. This produces a "surround sound" effect when played back through headphones.
