Award winning composer and music producer, Luis Guerra, spent his early years playing drums and piano before picking up the double bass at an early age. He studied the instrument intensively and began performing professionally at the age of 15. He has performed on stage or recorded in the studio with musical luminaries including Peter Buck (REM), Patty Griffin, Marc Ribot, Jimmy Messer (producer- Kelly Clarkson), Alejandro Escovedo, Samantha Ronson, Meiko, The Movement, Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees), Rahim Alhaj, Kevin Hays (Blue Note Recording Artist), Coleman Barks, Bobby Shew, Tosca Tango Orchestra, and Orchestra La Tribu.
In 2010, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue work as a composer for film, television, and all other forms of media. In the last six years, he has accomplished exactly that.
Most recently, he was musical director and composed music for the chart topping podcast, Revisionist History.
He composed music for the Netflix/Wild West Picture Show Productions "Art of Conflict". His music has been heard on BBC productions, documentaries, and recently had music placed in "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" with Tina Fey. He has worked on TV shows, Doc McStuffins and Henry Hugglemonster in addition to recently composing music for short films, "The Bunker Buster" which stars Kyle Bornheimer from CBS' "Fallen Angel." As he builds his reel in composition he also continues to receive attention for prior work. He is a 2012 American Artist Fellowship nominee for his work with Fonografia Collective.
Along with composing for TV and film, he also been a successful commercial music composer. Working with top notch music houses including Butter Music and Sound and Finger Music and sound, he has placed music in ads by Honda, Samsung, and Mentos. In 2011, he won a 2011 Silver Addy Award for music in the Southwestern region for music created for a Bueno Foods ad campaign. During the same time he was recognized as "producer of the year" for the 2009 New Mexico Music Awards.
He currently composes and arranges music for media from his studio based in Los Angeles, CA.
