The Mavericks

With a Cuban-American lead singer, garage band ferocity, an intense live show and a deep love of both romance and pure country to go with the polyrhythmic beats The Mavericks were raised on, they were unlikely superstars. Their raucous sound broke ground for the Country format with hits like “Here Comes The Rain,” “Crying Shame,” “Dance The Night Away” and “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down” and scored the group industry awards in prestigious categories like Vocal Group and Album of the Year, in addition to a GRAMMY Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. An indefinite divergence in 2004 led members Raul Malo, Paul Deakin, Eddie Perez and Jerry Dale McFadden in different directions until the 2013 release of In Time and subsequent touring, which topped many critics’ Best Of lists: American Songwriter, The Boston Globe, NPR, Los Angeles Times and New York Magazine.
