Still Da Baddest
Still Da Baddest is the fourth studio album by American rapper Trina. It was released on April 1, 2008, by Slip-n-Slide, EMI and DP Entertainment. The album was preceded by the lead single, "Single Again" on November 6, 2007. Following the poor chart performance, "I Got a Thang for You" featuring Keyshia Cole, was released as the album's second single. The album's third and final single "Look Back at Me" featuring Killer Mike, which it was produced by Hard Hat Productions, became a regional hit club record and accompanied by a music video.
The album garnered positive reviews from critics, most of whom praised the vigorous sexual-lyrics most have become accustomed to from Trina. However multiple critics showed disregard for some of the album's mid-tempo tracks as attempts to recapture the success of "Here We Go". The album debuted at number 6 on the Billboard 200 and number one on the US R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
The Introduction of Marcus Cooper
On his own, and a little grown-up, Pleasure P switches from the bluntly detailed encounters of Pretty Ricky to relationships on The Introduction of Marcus Cooper. It's not that the singer has forsaken obviousness altogether -- lines like "Deep sea diving in your treasure/I'm giving you all this pleasure" leave nothing to the imagination -- but the crudeness has been severely reduced, and even when it peeks through, it tends to be within the context of monogamy, not conquests. Unsurprisingly, Pleasure P excels most when he's at his most refined, when he's not trying to raise eyebrows, and when there's space in the arrangements, as on "Your Love" (which cleverly incorporates the chorus from Cheryl Lynn's "Encore"), "Did You Wrong" (a lullaby-like ballad in which he takes to a knee before his woman), and "Fire Lovin" (which spends more time on the wining and dining). A treat for those who liked what the singer brought to Pretty Ricky but who couldn't get past the sleaze overload.
