Ugh horrible This mag was definitely not made for the nexus 7. Very hard to read to the point into it was straining my eyes. Felt like .PDF scans. Not a lot of great reading here as well. Way too much advertisements. Also price for this is a bit much. It's not $1.99 per issue like some reviews say, it's $1.99 per month. They only release 6 issues a year, so you're paying even on months you don't get issues.
Not ideal for electronic viewing. I can't get into how the content of the magazine was because this was not setup to view well on a tablet and obviously not a phone. You need to zoom in very tight to read most of the text but the text is basically a scanned copy of the paper magazine so it becomes grainy. If you need to pay more for the electronic version over the paper version, I'd expect them to have put extra effort into formatting it for these devices.
Great geekery when they actually publish Downgrading my review to the lowest possible rating, as they have not replied to multiple emails and FB comments attempting to get them to clarify if they are every going to publish another issue. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE until they have figured this out! I really miss Geek magazine. I assume they've given up on publishing, since the last issue was three months ago, after a five-month hiatus. Is "six issues" more of an aspiration than a schedule? Paying fifteen bucks for a sub with only one issue so far in 2014 seems a little pricey.
Good content but don't subscribe! This magazine was great for the first two years of its relaunch. It came out like clockwork every other month, and the content was definitely geek-centric. Unfortunately, their release schedule slipped at the end of year two, and they haven't recovered. At this point (September 2014), a new print issue hasn't been produced in over four months, and the gap between the previous issue and the currently available issue was over four months. If you want to pick up the individual issues for their content, go for it, they're a good read. But don't bother subscribing, because you'll be throwing your money down a hole.
Geek Magazine, in a way it is.... I don't quite get all the complaining about Geek magazine, it has its moments of geekiness and then sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure what people expect, If you want a full blown tech review read a tech magazine, if you want to know in-depth details about the inner workings of Google Glass or the Oculus Rift then you should probably read Popular Mechanic. If you want hard science then again, read a science magazine. This magazine is geared more towards showing you whats out there, its enough to get your attention and make you want more. Think of it like the E3 of magazines, there's alot of cool and different stuff but your not gonna get details, thats not what they do. take it for what it is, not what you want it to be. Or hell, if your really a Geek, write your own mag. sheesh. Magazine rating 4 out of 5, the articles are intriguing enough to have me google things but it'd be nice if the cover reflected the theme of the magazine, I do like the wide coverage of so many topics though so I'm not complaining.
Love love love it!!! This magazine is great! As a huge fan and subscriber to Wired magazine and a lover of all things geek, I've been looking for something new to read. This magazine fits the bill perfectly. To the people complaining the text is too small, you do realize their is an option to switch to 'text view' don't you? I've been weary of trying out digital magazines but this is so wonderful to view on my Samsung Galaxy 7" s2 tablet. Looking forward to the next issue!
