Great magazine, terrible digital edition I love Pop Mech but I will not renew my digital subscription until I see that it works completely on my Android devices. The interactive content is great when it works, which is rare and I miss a good portion of each issue. Fix the problems and I will renew, otherwise it's back to the (cheaper) print edition. I'd ask for a refund but the Play store seems to strictly enforce "buyer beware." Update : Still missing a lot of content due to yellow buttons that are broken. Some work, most don't on a Nexus 10. Going back to print so I don't know what I'm missing.
Saves Trees! I don't see why everyone is complaining. Complaints should be used for the magazine not working properly not for the price. I enjoy the paper edition as well but with this I can carry it around in my phone which is more convenient. $1.99 a month for stimulating content is nothing to gawk over. Geez! Thank you for going digital!
Good effort I like the magazine so far. I'm glad to see a push towards interactivity, which the play magazine market is sorely lacking right now. All the interactive content works great for me on my Nexus 7, though you can't play any of the videos without being connected to the internet. Would like to have the ability to have it all downloaded for complete offline reading. Also the ability to zoom would be nice, although it's not the end of the world since the majority of the magazine is formatted really well.
best magazine ever. this magazine truly shows the coolest in new age gadgets and electronics; I have loved this magazine since I first saw it when I was 13, it provides easily comprehensible articles for the elderly aswell as the little ones. I am proud to say that this is the best magazine I have ever seen, thank you popular mechanics team for putting so much effort into this magazine. -Ryan from Victoria BC.
Best Magazine on Android! I don't understand why people are giving such bad reviews. This is the only magazine so far that's actually designed for widescreen Android tablets, like my Transformer, and it's awesome! The interactive content is also great, and includes videos and animations that really improve the experience. The only problem is the performance isn't buttery smooth, but it's still functional. This is the best magazine available on Android, because it has great content, is designed for the tablet, and has nice interactive features. You should definitely consider subscribing.
Great Content, Gimicks Break the Experience Love The Content, Hate The Digital Gimicks Loved the print magazine and appreciate what they are trying to do with the digital version, BUT the videos and stacked on-page content is only "cool" when it works. Unfortunately on a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note with plenty of horsepower and a fairly recent Android release it simply breaks far too often. Videos hang or crash the app. The stacked content "buttons" do not work 80% of the time which means there is a lot of content I simply cannot read. Each magazine release has gotten worse as more of the "cool UI features" are added to each new magazine. The UI features only add to the experience when the primary objective of a magazine subscription, accessing new content, works properly. Maybe I will subscribe again in 6 months or a year once they figure out how to publish content that doesn't break.
