Not For Real Horsemen, This magazine should be called, "Practical Snobby Horseback Rider" because it's mostly about how to ride and jump in the current micro-managed style for hunter/jumper and event riders with the right "turn-out". Riding well while wearing correct fashions is only a small part of being a horseman. The "Practical Horseman" knowledge of horse behavior, learning theory, training and equine science is weak and ignorant old school stuff. Horses are characterized with anthropomorphic terms such as "lazy", "willing","wants to do his job", "respect", having "desire" and "work ethic". Other than a few minor fashion changes the real content of this magazine never changes over the years, so you can get a copy from many years past and see the same old stuff in it. If you want to learn real practical horsemanship read books like "Equitation Science" and "Equine Behavior" by Paul McGreevy
