Poorly built digital magazine If you want to know what a digital magazine is supposed to be like then check out Wired. Unlike this mag, you don't have to wait while each page loads when you want to view it. Once yo download the issue onto your device it should all be ready to read, I shouldn't have to wait 3 seconds each time I turn the page, cause guess what ther are a lot of pages and they aren't content rich, most are ads, so you'll go throug them quickyl, or try to at least. Also, don't make me scroll down to see the rest of the page, I want to read this like the magazine you're supposd to be. Break the content onto another page and I'll continue to it. On that note, there is a black flicker everytime the page transitions.I don't know if that has to do with the loading screen, but it's distracting and annoying and sloppy and needs to die.
Be aware - can't read on Chrome browser on desktop I purchased this to read on a tablet, but I also like to read my Google Play magazines on my regular computer (like a laptop or desktop) from time to time, to see them on a large monitor. With most Play magazines, you can do this, but not with Real Simple. If you try to do this, you'll see it will say this one is "Device Only". I suppose this is because they built in all of the special interactive features. I thought those features worked just okay on my tablet. The Table of Contents section (not the list that you get when you press the table of contents button available for all magazines, but the actual table of contents pages) was a little odd, in that at times, I could only see half of the page, like the right or left. I think it was supposed to be interactive but it wasn't quite working correctly. I didn't remember any of the other interactive features being all that memorable. So, with the interactive features being a little buggy like that, and not being able read it on my regular computer, any further issues of this magazine I buy will probably be in print (I like the content of this publication itself so no complaints there).
Took Forever ... It took me almost 1/2 hour trying to "verify" my print subscription! And after all that, you want me to provide my CC info for a "free" app? No way. I cancelled right then and there. Then, of course, I read the reviews. Should have been there, done that! If the process of getting a free app was this bad, I can't imagine trying to access the real McCoy. I'll stick to my "Print" and regular online choices, thank you. And Goggle, what are you trying to do with this "Goggle Wallet" nonsense? If I wanted to open up an account with your Wallet feature, that would have been different. But trying to shove it down my throat as an "add-on" is low!
Works great for me! I really hesitated to purchase this via the Google Magazine app, due to ALL the awful ratings you can obviously see for yourself. However, I had recently purchased my 7" Samsung Galaxy tablet, so I figured it might be due to an incongruency between this newer app and some peoples' older tablets, and I got brave. Voila, it worked! The UI (user interface) is smooth, I have had no trouble whatsoever going from page to page or reading any of the articles, and everything is clear, quick and stays where it is supposed to stay. They have a lot of fun little features that pack more into one page, like scrolling down one column to see more on the article... In short, I LOVE the whole thing. :) Thanks Real Simple!
Poor interaction I was greatly disappointed with this magazine. It said that it was interactive, but the links to access the interactive parts were blocked by the stupid index of the pages. I could not read all that was on the page, which was incredibly frustrating. After the tenth time of this happening, I gave up and canceled my subscription. I would like to see the company get rid of the menu that constantly interferes with the reading experience and make sure all of the links in the magazine work and can be clicked.
App has some issues I read the reviews before download about interactive features not working properly but still got it. I had a free google play credit and love the magazine but hated keeping around the paper copies. Though I don't think I'll renew at the end of year if this doesn't get resolved. Real simple should really look to other mags for tablets to fix what should be simple. It's a shame when I see a product and want to find out what it is only to tap on screen and nothing happens. Pictures are pretty though.
