Recoil doesn't understand the 2nd Amendment The editor thinks that certain rifles should be "unavailable to civilians and for good reason. We all know that’s technology no civvies should ever get to lay their hands on." because "this is a gun that you do not want in the wrong, slimy hands." Apparently the 2nd Amendment was written so we could shoot paper and hunt for ducks, right? WRONG. I purchased one issue of RECOIL, but then the editor showed his true colors and a clear inability to understand the 2nd Amendment. I refuse to purchase another of these unless Jerry Tsai is fired and a full retraction is given. But i doubt even that will save this magazine.
An anti-liberty "gun" magazine Mr. Tsai seems to believe some people are somehow 'better' and those elite people can be trusted with firearms that the peons should be denied - that things have to have a "sporting purpose" for the unwashed to own them. After All who needs (fill in the blank)? A car that can go 85 MPH? A gun that isn't for hunting? You don't need it. Here's a hint: the Second Amendment isn't about 'sporting purposes' and freedom means people are free to have what they want if they can (pursuit of happiness). Tsai and HK's arrogant employees don't dictate what I can own, no matter how smart and hip they are. Another clue: FNH USA sells their semiautomatic PDW to 'the proletariat'...
Great read and attitudes Everyone seems to be worked up over a single story. Recoil is not anti 2nd amendment, they support responsible gun ownership. A lot of ignorant owners have been led to believe that rights are somehow unlimited and require no responsibility. Only an uneducated person who knows nothing of Constitutional law could think this way. Should any moron be allowed to buy a portable nuke launcher? The quickest way to lose a right is to use it recklessly, thank God Recoil gets that.
Good advice This magazine is great for finding little things that I want to buy, gloves, glasses and the like. I love how they the list the MSRP and website for each thing. The recent issue with comparisons for free float hand guards for AR15s was very good, since I was in the process of looking for a new hand guard. I could wish that there were more frequent issues, and that it was cheaper for a subscription, but I would rather there be fewer issues than trying to force more issues with less quality of content. Photography is really good too. Hard to read on a 7" tablet though, have to read each page in quarters, zooming in and panning a lot, that is the same with all my other magazines too though, this magazine just tends to jump around a lot. I have no clue what the comments about this being an anti second amendment rag is about, I'm sorry that they don't review belt fed machine guns, give you a step by step on converting a AR15 to an M16, and how to build land mines?
Great mag People crying that this mag doesn't understand gun rights are idiots. The editor that said some guns shouldn't be owned by civilians got was fired. Also he was right. There is a limit to what civilians should own. Should my crazy neighbor own a rocket launcher that can take out a jet liner? No. I own assault rifles but no rationale can be used to say that "well regulated militia" means "unregulated civilians". If you think you need anti-aircraft cannons to keep the government under your thumb, trust me- they have drones that can wipe your cannon and neighborhood out of existence. As for the magazine, it has great pics in great articles about great products. If you're reading anything deeper into it than that, you need a life. Removing a magazine promoting guns doesn't help you promote guns.
RECOIL, not a friend of the 2a. I quote the original article: "...the MP7A1 is unavailable to civilians and for good reason. We all know that’s technology no civvies should ever get to lay their hands on. This is a purpose-built weapon with no sporting applications to speak of." Despite weak apologies and lame retractions, I think we have seen the mindset behind recoil magazine, the true colors if you will before the damage control went into effect. No thanks FUDDS.
