I skimmed this magazine at the airport. 'The Pursuit of Happiness' article interested me a lot. I quickly went buy it while in the airplane before I have to turn off all electronics. At first I thought I was buying an the individual magazine, but there was a limit to how long I could have it. I thought it was odd for a split second, but I didn't care. It's a great read - self reflecting. I saw the next two magazines pop up in the Magazine Play Store, but I didn't want to pin it (which that's what I thought you have to do to buy it). I was on a physical desktop is when I finally realize I'm actually have a some sort subscription, canceling right away. Google needs to tread lightly on these fine details (though there is an obvious subscribe and buy button, but how did I end up being subscribed?); or you'll get a bunch of one star reviews nothing to do with the Magazine Company itself. (i.e. One star reviews for a FREE magazine, because people don't want to put out their credit card number.) Yes, that's a way to pull someone in to start buying, but angry customers having nothing to do with magazine quality, soon angry by association will ensue. -HTC One
Why did they have to leave a working app for a disaster? I'm cancelling my subscription. I had been reluctant to renew since they switched to the ever-changing google, I finally decided to do so and my fears were confirmed. I haven't read a single issue since my renewal. Google play asking for my card details before I can access something i already paid for is ridiculous, and then I'm asked to go through google play and then, No !!, I can't read on google play, now I have to go through newstand and there I can only view 3 pages of the only issue that seems to open, pop ups don't work. I have to go through play store>>magazines>>newstand>> view a whole lot of rubbish magazines I'm not interested in before I can find the TIME mag. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or not going the right way but the TIME app on my galaxy tab was a lot more convenient to use, it was nice and working perfectly. This old app was perfect with a shortcut on my homepage and a library where I could view all my TIME issues at once and select what I wanted. Why did they have to leave a working app for a disaster?
The Worst Ever I don't know who field tests this app but it is the worst ever. It simply doesn't work. The iOS version that I used on an iPad was great. I could always download the magazine wherever I was traveling whenever a new issue came out - usually late Thursday night or early Friday morning. Now I can't download an issue at all. I have no idea who to call to help me. I've been reading Time for decades -- till now. My comments have nothing to do with the magazine itself but only with this app. I am NOT a computer neophyte but this app is absolutely terrible. How can anyone get help with this terrible piece of software?
Great content but bad digital copy I used to read Time magazine with its own app. It had a few problems, but they were tolerable. Ever since Time started deliver digital copies with Google Play, the situation has gotten worse. I have seen pages not showing up, pictures getting blocked by another layer, etc. Those problems interrupt normal reading flow and are very annoying.
Almost unusable Don't know if the problem is Google play or time magazine, but this is a glitchy piece of crap. I won't be renewing my subscription time.
Pretty Good but some annoying problems I like to read Time through the Google magazine app. However there are a couple of annoying bugs. The most annoying is that sometimes a layer will block the layer below. For example a gallery of thumbnails of photos. If I tap one thumbnail the photo appears *under* the gallery of thumbnails and so 1/2 or more of the underlying photo is obscured by the thumbnails. The app is also sometimes very sensitive to a slight tap which causes it to bring up the "choose a page" overlay. It is sometimes difficult to get the overlay to disappear.
