Is Pickle and Peanut the most original cartoon to ever exist ever? No. Lucky for us, it doesn't need to be -- and if anything, its dedication to tearing the familiar "two friends do stuff" format to bits and haphazardly putting it back together is exactly what makes it worth watching. The first time I ever saw it I was half-awake at 3:00 in the morning with my then 8-year-old sister by my side, and didn't know what the hell I was looking at, but a few months later I couldn't stop thinking about it so I saw the entire thing, and found myself falling in love with these oddball characters and the bizarro-world version of Reno they inhabit. (I'd be a liar if I said I didn't identify with Peanut about 99.9% of the time. He's a brilliant dork, and the combination of his antics and Johnny Pemberton's voice acting kept me coming back.) The show's obviously the type of thing that isn't for everyone. But if you look under the surface level of its intentionally off-putting (yet also somehow rather charming) feel, you'll find a comedy that knows exactly what it wants to be -- and brings a clever, heartwarming vibe to it through the main characters' bromance. Give it a couple episodes.

Take a lame buddy cartoon, add a healthy dose of hip-beardo-jeggings-unicycle mad libs content, and take a run at Ren and Stimpy gross-out tween male demographic mining, sprinkle a handfull of random loud noises and you have this unflushed turd. It makes the Adult Swim junk seem like anime masterpieces.
