When Minister for Defence, Henrik Skelbæk, arrives in Baghdad to celebrate the New Year with the Danish military forces, the Personal Protection Unit police provides him protection -- and yet the minister's visit proves fateful. At the same time a group of young, hopeful, police officers gather for the annual admission tests at the protection school in Copenhagen. Throughout three raw January weeks they are exposed to a series of physical and psychological trials that only a minority will pass.

Catic, an ex-Jugoslav and former professional soldier, is desperate for revenge after his only son, Ibro, was killed protecting Danish Defence Minister Henrik Skelbæk during a stay in Bagdad. The Personal Protection Unit neither knows where Catic is hiding nor his plans. As Skelbæk is to attend the funeral of another soldier killed in Afghanistan the security around him is increased including Jasmina, Rasmus and Jonas -- protection officers still in training.

As the Prime Minister makes a very controversial change in government Leon, head of the Personal Protection Unit, decides to give the new minister maximum protection. The appointment triggers an extremist group to declare that the time has come for a dramatic confrontation with the government on its immigration policy. Stepping into the public eye is not without personal costs for the new minister and her family, and the question is whether Personal Protection Unit has chosen the right persons for protection?

While Jasmina suspects nothing, Leon and his boss slowly realize the serious threat hanging over her. Unfortunately they have very different views on how to handle the situation. Meanwhile, the extremist group seeks help from both inside the police force and from abroad and their plan for a major action is completed. Jonas gets a very specific task that comes at a great personal cost and soon a tragedy inside the protection unit seems inevitable.

Jasmina is contacted by a distant friend, Huma, who lives in a suburb of Copenhagen with a large number of Muslim residents. Huma is convinced that the neighbour, who is married to her girlfriend, is preparing for an act of terrorism. Not only has his behaviour recently changed dramatically, but also he is often seen with a stranger. It appears that the Personal Protection Unit and Leon already has detailed knowledge of the foreigner and further investigation is being launched. After lying to his wife, Jonas gets a helping hand from Boas in order to restore his marriage.

Suspicion of a possible terror attack in Copenhagen is growing to such a degree that Leon along with his boss decide to inform the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Jasmina comes to the rescue when the main witness, Huma, needs protection. When the Personal Protection Unit gets information about where and when a bomb will detonate help is needed from inside the Muslim community. Although Leon applies unconventional means his people lose track of the terrorist shortly before detonation is to take place. Rasmus is providing shelter for several people including Jonas who is again trying to deal with his marital issues.

As Prime Minister Jens Ole Vestergaard and one of the country's most popular actresses, Josefine Rohde, decide to get married, most people share the couple's happiness. But one woman in particular reacts differently. For a long time she has been convinced that she is meant to be the PM's partner-to-be, and she is willing to do whatever is necessary to prevent the impending wedding. The Personal Protection Unit knows that an unknown stalker is chasing the PM and now Leon decides to extend the protection to the bride.

A female stalker is trying to prevent the upcoming wedding of the Prime Minister. One night in a dramatically compromising video she successfully passes for being the actress Josefine, the PM's bride-to-be. The PM is shocked and the Personal Protection Unit intensifies the search for the stalker. By the time her identity is finally disclosed, she has already disappeared. Helped by the psychologist Boas, Jasmina finds a vital clue, but the stalker always seems to be one step ahead as the day of Josefine's premiere arrives. Jasmina seems to gain control of her private life, however, Jonas seems to let his spiral out of control.

As a prelude to the big Climate Change Conference later in the year a number of experts and politicians are invited to a meeting in Copenhagen. Among those is the powerful English Climate minister, Claire Thornton. She brings evidence that certain so-called experts are receiving bribes from the industry to defuse the debate of global warming. Other arrivals in Copenhagen include Claire's main political opponent and a former German terrorist. Meanwhile, back home in England Claire's husband is taken by surprise.

The Personal Protection Unit is asked by MI5 to provide protection for English Climate Minister, Claire Thornton, however, former German terrorist Christoph Meyer has already kidnapped her. He makes it clear that the consequences will be fatal if his demands on returning vital evidence in the climate debate are not met. Claire begins to suspect that Meyer is playing a risky game, Jasmina undertakes a particular task, Rasmus is attacked, and Jonas experiences a tragedy.
