Based on the novels by Edward St Aubyn, Benedict Cumberbatch gives a sparkling performance as Patrick Melrose, a troubled member of the English upper class who tries to make sense of his life following the death of his father. The show follows Patrick’s life from this childhood in the South of France in the 1960s, to his adult life in New York and London. Also stars Hugo Weaving and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
It’s 2003 and Patrick is now forty-four and married to Mary with two sons. Patrick may be off the heroin but is struggling with substance abuse when his ill mother makes an illicit request, and the Melrose family return to London to face the future.
