About this show

This warm, light-hearted detective drama is a fish-out-of-water story about a quintessential English policeman posted to the Caribbean island of Saint-Marie. To anyone else it would be paradise, but for Detective Inspector Richard Poole it's hell! Totally unsuited to the Caribbean way of life, Richard hates the sun, sea and sand and isn't used to their style of policing. But he finds his brilliant detective skills combine well with the local police to help solve a series of mysterious murders. Will Richard ever come to see the beauty of his surroundings? Perhaps not, but he might one day loosen his tie.

Death in paradise is an amazing show at the start, but onwards from there the characters get boring and annoying (with a few exceptions) but the plot is great and interesting with twists that are somewhat predictable yet still suprising and beautiful camera angles and shots that captures the Carribbean in a charming way. I would recommend this to anybody who's looking for a murder mystery/comedy type show or just for a quick watch after a long day at work.

The show is okay, but the most characters have no depth at all. Sure some parts are funny (especially with Dwayne) but my real problem is with the murder plots. After watching it, I started to notice a trend in the plot. There was always one clue that caught out the murderer. There would be one fantastically improbable thing that would point to the murderer. And they would usually place more emphasis on that particular clue. It becomes predictable after a season or two. However I would recommend it if you did not have much experience with murder mysteries and wanted something light to watch after a long day.

So its like Miss Marple set in the Caribbean. Love the characters, altho... I'm having to suspend my disbelief that anyone would take a very young detective seriously who dresses like she's on hol when everyone else wears shirt and trousers. Liking that the plots this series are based more on islanders and island history rather than brits abroad. Catherine for mayor would be awesome. And less camera angle changes please - making my head spin this series! Keep them coming - i like my bit of winter sun!
