Going back through files and talking to the detectives on the case, Tommy Callahan (Brad Sullivan) and Jimmy Cunan (James Hanlon) find that the prime suspect was a plumber who was in the house the day of the murder.

Children's Services alerts detectives that Dylan's birth mother, Celia Goddard (Catherine Kellner), was a drug addict and signed off on the adoption before she entered rehab, over a year before the murder.

The body of a pregnant Dena Meredith is found in the trunk of a stolen Carnry, having been shot several times, her baby survives and detectives Green (Jesse L. Major Wyrnan's (Michael Gaston) wife, Caryn (Charlotte d'Amboise), was carrying the bag in question, filled with cocaine, and was using Army planes and helicopters to transport the drugs.

When a Hispanic male is found dead from a severe chest trauma, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) discover that he and two other illegal immigrants had been in a staged automobile accident. As evidence mounts linking numerous similar car crashes with the same employer - Bill Reed (Doc Dougherty), chiropractor - Dr. Jerome Raleigh (Matthew Sussman), insurance adjuster, and lawyers, A.D.A.s McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) must determine who is ultimately responsible for the man's death, from which so many others profited.

Scott Wilder, the son of a very powerful and wealthy real estate magnate, Peter Wilder (Henry Woronicz), and his wife Johanna (Deirdre O'Connell) is found dead near his old school.
