"Laurel Canyon" is a feature documentary, in two parts, concerning music and culture in the famed Hollywood Hills' Laurel Canyon area, which includes archival materials, content and music from Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, JD Souther, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Frank Zappa and other key figures in the vibrant music scene.
The artists who thrived in Laurel Canyon found themselves at the forefront of a global musical stage. With bigger paychecks and harder drugs, the scene began to shift. The neighborly feeling from the early years disappeared after the Manson murders. In spite of it all, a new wave of troubadours came in and continued to captivate those beyond their rustic home. It was only a short period of time in the grand scheme of things, but there’s a part of the Laurel Canyon magic that will endure forever—the music that defined a generation.
