In the series premiere episode, acting coach Sandy Kominsky must face fears of his own mortality, while being there for his longtime friend and agent, Norman, whose wife, Eileen (recurring guest star SUSAN SULLIVAN) is terminally ill.
2 Chapter 2: "An Agent Grieves"
Following Eileen's passing, Sandy must immediately begin making good on his promise to take care of Norman and help him plan for her very specific funeral.
3 Chapter 3: "A Prostate Enlarges"
Sandy deals with a health scare, while Norman's mourning process is complicated by the presence of his estranged, drug-addicted daughter, Phoebe (recurring guest star LISA EDELSTEIN).
4 Chapter 4: "A Kegel Squeaks"
Anxiously awaiting the results of a biopsy, Sandy tries to prove that he's still young, while Norman's patience is tested living with his new housemate, his addict daughter Phoebe.
5 Chapter 5: "An Agent Crowns"
The results of Sandy's biopsy prompt him to take his relationship with Lisa (NANCY TRAVIS) to the next level, while Norman goes back to work in an attempt to move on with his life after Eileen.
6 Chapter 6: "A Daughter Detoxes"
Sandy and Norman hit the road to drop Phoebe off at rehab in Arizona. After dropping her off, Norman questions what he has left to live for. Meanwhile, Mindy discovers Sandy hasn't paid taxes in years, putting the future of his acting school in jeopardy.
7 Chapter 7: "A String Is Attached"
Sandy scrambles to solve his issues with the IRS while Norman considers a way to lend Sandy the money without it eventually ruining their friendship.
8 Chapter 8: "A Widow Approaches"
In the season finale, Sandy patches things up with Lisa while Norman grapples with the idea of going on a date with another woman, especially so soon after Eileen's passing.

About this show

Michael Douglas plays Sandy Kominsky, an actor who years ago had a brief fling with success and is now a revered Hollywood acting coach. Alan Arkin plays his long-suffering agent and friend, Norman.
