Returning home following his arrest in the finale of series one, Ross prepares for his trial in Bodmin as Demelza and Elizabeth try to help his cause, but George Warleggan does everything in his power to harm him. Bodmin is overwhelmed with crowds when the court case takes place due to the county election. George visits Ross in jail again and has an offer to make. Ross makes an unsettling discovery involving Jud. Meanwhile, Ross's cousin Francis is consumed with guilt and wrestles with his conscience, and Dwight clashes with an entitled heiress, Caroline Penvenen. 2015 ITV

Ross's defence Clymer persuades Ross that he needs to distance himself from the rioting taking place in Bodmin, so as not to be seen to sympathise with lawless behaviour. Ross and George fight after George makes a revelation involving Francis. When Demelza visits Verity to spend time apart from Ross, Ross decides to make amends and moves to mend the rift between Caroline and Dwight. Elizabeth has news of her own for George as the couple settle into married life, while George's plans provoke the locals to riot. Meanwhile, Demelza finds herself in hot water, but is met with new hope after a heart-to-heart with Ross. 2015 ITV

About this show

Period drama set in the 1780s. Ross Poldark joins the army to avoid charges of smuggling, leaving behind his sweetheart, Elizabeth, with the promise that he will return soon. Three years later, wounded and scarred, Ross returns home to discover that his father has died, his estate is in ruins and Elizabeth is set to marry his cousin, Francis.
