Can't wait for 3 I saw that someone rated this as gross and vulgar. It is not. I will admit in season 1 there is a scene where a man attempts to kiss another man and a scene that has dialogue indicating a couple is going to have sex but doesn't show anything. I think this is a very well made show. Beautiful sets, story line and acting. A++. Love it.
No Honey Boo Boo Who had the idea to develop a great story with a fantastic cast and an addictive persona when there's so much reality drivel out there. The lap-droolers and Kardashian followers won't watch. Oh, wait. ANOTHER great reason it's so good!
Probably the best written show on modern television Deeply entwined plot lines, disbelief-suspending characters/actors and a set design and cinematography quality that transports you to early 20th century Britain. Amazingly well done
Addicting!!! Kept wondering what all the fuss was about "Downtown Abby"...Was quickly corrected by a crazed fan that it's DOWNTON. Bought season 1 episode 1....that night I purchased the whole of season 1...Season 2 on dvd about three days later...and have now purchased season 3....knowing that I'll have to wait a bit of time for season 4 has me savoring each episode. Amazingly acted! Plots carefully and complexly thought out....just sheer addiction. You'll have your fave characters within 3 episodes....and leassst faves for all three seasons.... Anyone else feel like punching Thomas? :)
love it!! I have always been a big fan of BBC/PBS and Masterpiece Theatre, my husband calls them " MY SAPPY BRITISH LOVE STORIES" but even he is hooked on Downtown. We cannot wait for season 3! Did I mention he is a pastor. Some situations are immoral but they are true to life experiences and the moral lesson is clearly conveyed. Beautiful costumes and sets.
A new classic is born. Set at the turn of the century with careful detail to historical accuracy, this is written with a modern flavor for passion, suspense, greed, privilege and the common human low-ness of the upper-class. This period project has come at the right time with the right writers and the perfect cast. I watch them over and over.

Tony® Award-winning actor Mark Rylance (Twelfth Night) and Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winner Damian Lewis (Homeland) star in the six-hour miniseries adapted from Hilary Mantel’s best-selling Booker Prize-winning novels: Wolf Hall and its sequel, Bring Up the Bodies. From humble beginnings and with an enigmatic past, Thomas Cromwell (Rylance) is the brilliant consigliere to King Henry VIII (Lewis). Told from Cromwell’s perspective, Wolf Hall follows the complex machinations and back room dealings of this pragmatic and accomplished power broker who must serve king and country while dealing with deadly political intrigue, Henry VIII’s tempestuous relationship with Anne Boleyn (Claire Foy, Little Dorrit), and the religious upheavals of the Protestant reformation. A historical drama for a modern audience, this unromanticized re-telling lifts the veil on the internal struggles England faced on the brink of Reformation. At the center of it all is Cromwell, navigating the moral complexities that accompany the exercise of power, trapped between his desire to do what is right and his instinct to survive.
