Just as Ray Donovan's life begins to return to normal, the head of the Los Angeles FBI, Ed Cochran, learns that Ray and Mickey were part of the killing of Sully Sullivan and demands that Ray bring Mickey back from Mexico, where he is setting up a fight for Ray's half-brother, Daryll. Abby, concerned that Ray won't face his abuse, has forced Ray to go to therapy with her. Ray also has to rescue his client Deonte, a pro baller, from a bad situation between Deonte's wife and an American Idol finalist. Bunchy is nervous about a job interview while Terry obsesses over his ex-girlfriend. Conor lands in hot water after assaulting a classmate. In the end, Ray heads to Mexico to bring Mickey back to Los Angeles, but Mickey isn't eager to leave.

Ray forces Mickey to return to LA and brings him to Ed Cochran, who puts Mickey on parole and then holds a press conference taking full credit for finding and shooting Sully Sullivan. Kate McPherson, a Boston reporter, doesn't believe the FBI's story. Desperate to control Mickey, Ray corrupts a parole officer and has him take over Mickey's case. Kate begins to investigate Sully's death and decides to come to Los Angeles.

Ray and Abby are eager to get Bridget into her dream school, but Ray's fractured relationship with movie producer Stu Feldman stands in their way. Stu wants Ray to set up a date with his favorite porn star, but her husband isn't happy about the arrangement. Mickey has a date with his old flame, Claudette, but first he has to find a way around Mr. Keith. Kate McPherson heads to the Fite Club to interview Terry, but Ray prevents her from getting any solid information.

With her investigation in full swing, Kate zeroes in on Mickey. The appearance of Tiny, a former member of Sully's gang, jeopardizes Cochran's promising career. He and Ray disagree over what measures to take. Ray attempts to get Tiny out of the country safely while simultaneously closing the deal on a new house in Trousdale. Meanwhile, Mickey's new parole officer Mr. Keith, sends him to work at a Mexican restaurant. Abby meets a new friend at the gun range while Bunchy encounters a potential love interest at the bike shop where he has gotten a job.

Ray gets compromising information on Cochran while Cochran interrogates Mickey. Avi follows Kate as she investigates, but Ray will need to give her a new story. Meanwhile, Abby tries to have fun with her prospective Trousdale neighbors, and gets closer to Jim, her cop friend. Marvin gives Bridget an earring, and takes her to a party at the house of hip-hop mogul/ex-con Cookie Brown. Ray brings Conor to apologize to Alex, but it doesn't go well.

Mickey gets a stipend from Ray, but hopes for a bigger payday when he meets with movie exec Debra Gerson. Bridget argues with Ray and Abby about the earring from Marvin.

It's Conor's birthday, and Abby and Ray both forgot. Conor demands a family party with Terry, Bunchy, and Mickey all in attendance, and tensions run high when the whole family comes together at the Donovan house. Meanwhile, Ashley's stalker is back, and her new love interest Steve Knight - a self-help guru whose psychological runarounds get under Ray's skin - orders Ray to get rid of him. Ray comes face-to-face with Cookie Brown when he shows up to take Bridget for a night out.

Lee Drexler returns from his honeymoon, only to be confronted by Cookie Brown, who demands the rights to Marvin's music. Ray arranges the deal, but then Lee reneges on it. Peggy Shaughnessy plants a seed of doubt in Kate's mind about the story that she published; Kate reopens her investigation but is threatened by two Southie thugs on the street.

Bunchy struggles with his fears when confronted with Patty's son in the bathtub. Kate visits a Walpole inmate to find out what went wrong with her article.

Ashley's stalker Bob Lepecka is back and making trouble again for Steve Knight, but when Ray goes to stop him, Bob warns him that Steve is actually the dangerous one. Cochran gets a call from the president officially nominating him for FBI directorship, so he vows to take all steps to protect himself from the vetting process. Kate confronts Ray about the truth about his past. Abby tries to overcome her anxiety about Bridget's safety, while Mickey starts gathering a team for his pot store robbery.

Ray starts to make arrangements for his family, in case he gets arrested when Kate publishes her story. Meanwhile, Cookie gives Ray a million dollars to track down and buy a stalkerazzi video of the shooting. Mickey, Terry, Daryll, and Mr. Keith rob the pot store, but it doesn't quite go as planned, and Terry gets left behind and arrested. Conor is waiting in the SRO when Shorty's oxygen tanks explode, leading to a confrontation between Ray and Mickey at the scene of the blast. Ezra tells Ray and Avi that Kate needs to be stopped.

The best tv show on now. Ray is a badass with a heart. He loves his family even his Dadthat drives him nuts. His two brothers he loves till death . I think he's going to kill Suesan Sandron after a while. She drives him nuts. But

The first episode sets the scene, introduces the characters as they get more and even more interesting. The storyline is believable, exciting and always leaving you wanting more.

I just started watching this suspenseful series. Great main actor keeps you on the edge of your seat and its mafia genre is off the charts... I'm addicted now can't wait to see all of the series...
