With the New Year celebrations in full swing, Phelan tells Eileen he’s going to head home as he’s still not feeling well. Whilst watching the fireworks from the Rovers back yard, Mary makes Norris promise that he’ll visit her in South Africa.
Johnny helps an upbeat Jenny move her things into his flat. Toyah reluctantly agrees to join Leanne and Nick for dinner later. Adam confides in Peter that Aidan tried to threaten him and he’s not going to let it lie.
Andy wakes from a nightmare, sweating and shaking. Deeply concerned about him, Steph insists he takes the day off. Gary returns from Germany and is gutted to find out from Dev that the gym has gone bust.
Simmering with rage, Phelan tells Andy that the whole reason for burning down the garage was to destroy Kevin’s laptop. Secretly pressing record on his phone, Andy quizzes Phelan about the building scam and Michael’s death.
Luke resolves to find Andy and tell him what he thinks of him for dumping Steph. When Steve suggests they could drive out for a nice lunch, Michelle snaps at him, telling him the only person she wants to spend time with is Ruairi.
Steve enters the Chapel of Rest to find Michelle asleep on a chair. Steve gazes emotionally at Ruairi’s tiny body in the coffin. Michelle wakes, grateful to find Steve there. Promising never to mention the kiss, Robert heads off.
Leanne tears a strip off Nick for his lack of sensitivity towards Liz. For Tracy’s 40th birthday, Daniel gives her a wine appreciation course whilst Adam has clearly forgotten. Tracy’s seriously underwhelmed.
Toyah warns Nick that Leanne’s not going to like his crazy idea. Having spruced himself up, Luke returns to the bistro and presents Tracy with her proper birthday present, a beautiful bracelet. Tracy’s genuinely touched.
Downbeat Toyah tells Leanne it’s over with Fred, her boyfriend and there’s no future for them. Leanne feels for her. Secretly planning his marriage proposal, Nick asks Leanne to pop into the bistro later making out he needs some help with the roster.
Admitting how much she loves him, Toyah becomes upset. As Peter pulls her into his embrace, they’re suddenly interrupted by Leanne, clearly on the war path. Whilst Jenny shows off her mastectomy bras, Johnny arrives with a client in tow.
As Adam readies himself for his law exam, he’s amused to clock Daniel looking at websites about losing one’s virginity. Sophie berates Rosie for being so naïve as to not realise her boyfriend was using her as a drugs mule.
Determined to try and save the business, Kevin takes on too much work. Sinead apologises to Chesney for standing him up and insists they need to talk. Having hidden the drugs in Tim’s biscuit tin, Rosie and Sophie ponder over their options.
Having spent the night with Daniel, Sinead suggests she should move in. She’s disappointed when he tells her it’s too soon. They’re interrupted when Adam and a giggling Rosie emerge from Adam’s bedroom.
Choosing Nathan over Rana, Bethany climbs into his car. Peter and Nick set off in search of Simon leaving Toyah at home in case he calls. Leanne calls at the flower shop flat wanting to know where Nick and Simon have got to.
Still smarting from Leanne’s dig about motherhood, Toyah’s upset. Eva and Peter are sympathetic. After their night of passion, Bethany confides in Nathan she’s worried they didn’t use any contraception.
When Michelle confides in Steve that she’d like to try for another baby, Steve admits the idea scares him but suggests they discuss it over dinner at the bistro. As Eva readies herself for visiting Maria in prison, Aidan masks his guilt.
Michelle gently approaches Steve and explains that the baby isn’t Ruairi. But Steve can only stare at her, telling her how sorry he is. As Michelle clocks Leanne’s guilty face, she realizes the awful truth.
Having got the keys from Kirk, Michelle’s spent the night in Maria’s flat. Johnny calls in to see how she is and her eyes red from crying, Michelle tells him she has a plan. Eva’s upset with Leanne for lying to her about the baby’s father.
Inside the Rovers, Michelle informs Rita, Norris, Mary and Jenny that she’s having a lock-in and all drinks are free. Eva’s concerned for Michelle’s state of mind. Roy returns to the café to find Gail and Shona in a stand-off.
Fiz calls at No.5 and tells Chesney he was wrong to sell Sinead’s belongings and she thought better of him. Chesney remains defiant. As Sally prepares for another day’s protesting, she tells Tim how Rita, Yasmeen and Erica have promised to join her.
Sinead’s troubled by Daniel’s change of heart and feels burdened by the responsibility of making the final decision about the baby. Newly flush Adam flashes the cash, giving housekeeping to Daniel and repaying his debt to Tracy.
Having spent the night on the floor in the flower shop Adam panics when he spots Ronan loitering outside No.1 and quickly ducks out of sight. Toyah’s upbeat as she tells Peter she’s going to book them into the IVF clinic and start the ball rolling.
Peter tells Chloe about his plans to buy a pub and his disappointment at his family’s lack of faith in him. Chloe’s supportive but even she’s shocked when Peter admits he lied and told them he had the support of his sponsor, Howard.
As Ken extolls the virtues of an Oxford education, Sinead hurries out, deeply hurt. Telling Ken that he’s turning Oxford down, Daniel goes after her. Ken’s devastated. Finding Jackson nursing a bloodied nose, Craig phones the police.
Peter paces furiously in his flat, eyeing the bottle of vodka longingly. Sinead follows Daniel onto the street and desperately insists the timing wasn’t right for a baby and Oxford is his golden moment of opportunity.
Peter explains to Toyah how he saw her with Toby and thought he’d lost her. He swears he hasn’t drunk or cheated on her. Toyah believes him. Sally tells Tim she’s got to go into hospital as her cancer’s come back.
Ken regains consciousness in hospital. He’s aghast when the police inform him that someone attacked him and left him for dead. Unable to recall the night in question, Ken takes exception when Mackinnon hints that a family member could be responsible.
Ken calls the police back to his bedside and, with a heavy heart, admits that his family could well have motives for attacking him. Using the Street Cars customer database, Tim helps Peter to trace Simon’s teacher’s home address.
Nick, Leanne, Toyah, Simon, Tracy and Adam listen in disbelief as Peter explains how Chloe became infatuated with him and on the night of Ken’s fall, he called round to see her and made it clear he wasn’t interested.
After a change of heart, Rob catches up with Amy and tells her to get in the car. On a mission to unfriend Eva, Maria reveals to the factory girls how she impersonated Eva at a business lunch and even perfected her ridiculous laugh.
Nathan finds Bethany sitting with the family in the service station. Telling her it’s time to set off, he’s shocked when Bethany refuses and further stunned when the police arrive and arrest him. Bethany’s distraught as Nathan screams abuse at her.
Eva’s stomach turns as another text from Aidan to Maria reading “I love you” pops up on the screen. Incandescent Eva kicks the TV, breaking it, before flying out of the flat to confront Maria. Leanne’s heart goes out to her.
Eileen’s still deeply suspicious of Phelan as he sets off for work, reminding him he needs to be back in time for her driving test. Phelan promises to be there. Robert goes to a meeting at the bank to secure a loan to buy Nick’s half of the Bistro.
Eileen and Nicola reel from Phelan’s bombshell that he might be Nicola’s father. Johnny is over the moon that Aidan’s going to be a dad and can’t understand his doubts. Johnny tells Aidan to man up and face his responsibilities.
Handing him the hotel address, Erica heads off leaving Kevin conflicted. Neil threatens Bethany and tells her to lie to Sarah and pretend she made the whole thing up; that she enjoyed the parties and the sex. Bethany’s appalled.
In order to raise some cash for the deposit on the flat, Aidan decides to sell his car. Knowing how much he loves his car, Eva feels a pang of guilt. David calls at No.11 and implores Shona to help him track down Lara, another of Nathan’s victims.
Having realised that Adam must know about Aidan’s affair but desperate to keep him quiet, Eva pretends to faint. Whilst Aidan fetches her some water, Eva orders Adam to meet her in the ginnel. Adam heads out intrigued.
Forming a plan, Adam instructs Eva to borrow Aidan’s paperwork regarding the flat purchase. Phelan offers Seb his job back at the builder’s yard. Seb’s pleased. When Nicola calls at the yard and invites Phelan for a drink, he’s surprised but thrilled.
Sarah thanks Craig for giving Bethany the courage to seek professional help. Luke apologises to Alya for trying to kiss her and blaming the drink, promises it won’t happen again. Alya hides her disappointment.
Having spoken to the police, Robert tells Michelle that Rich has a cast iron alibi and couldn’t have trashed the flat. When Leanne explains that it’s not working out at the Rovers, Eva insists she can move in with she and Aidan.
As Gail sets about cleaning her gutters, she confides in Phelan how much she misses Michael. Phelan masks his guilt. Having observed how well Steve and Leanne are getting on, Liz wonders if they’ve a future together.
Shona’s touched when Bethany sends her a scratch card thanking her for all her support. Having intercepted the postman, Nicola hands Phelan a parcel with him name on it. Making out it’s a surprise for Eileen, Phelan quickly hides the parcel in his van.
Clearly stressed about his court case, Robert warns Zeedan he might have to step in as head chef. Having spent the night together, hungover Kate and Imogen call in the café. Rana bristles at their obvious intimacy.
Faye and Seb set off for the train to Chester. Michelle visits Robert in prison and is shocked when he tells her that he believes Rich is telling the truth and that someone else is waging a war against them.
Eva arrives back from France loaded down with shopping bags having given Aidan’s credit card a severe whipping. Adam sidles up to her and tells her his plan for Underworld is on track. Maria’s intrigued to clock their intimacy.
Aidan asks Eva for a copy of her baby scan photo. As Jenny excitedly prepares for her hen night at a posh restaurant in town, Johnny’s furious to read an email from another client cancelling their order and suspects Matthew Singh is to blame.
Upbeat Tracy cooks breakfast for Ken and reveals Robert stayed the night, they’re back together and this time it’s for keeps. Ken’s pleased for them both. Loved up Anna and Kevin agree that it’s time to go public with their relationship.
Robert dashes to the Rovers to fetch Nick whilst Phelan tries to find Carla’s pulse.David and Kylie arrive home and are horrified to find Gail and Jason rolling back the carpet in the annexe. Gail explains she’s pricing up under floor heating.
An anxious Nick, Michelle, Johnny, Kate and Aidan gather at Carla’s bedside as she remains unconscious.The bistro remains closed whilst the police interview the staff. Leanne suggests they start with Steph and Andy whilst she phones round the rest.
When Ken reminds Audrey of their drink later, Audrey’s embarrassed and makes out she’s too busy. Ken wonders if he’s offended her in some way.Norris warns Mary that Brendan isn’t a very nice person and he’s worried for her.
Johnny menacingly reveals to Robert that he knows about his fling with Carla and suggests he should pull out of the bistro and walk away. Unfazed by Johnny’s threats, Robert tells him he’ll do as he likes.
Todd calls at No.1 with the floral samples for the wedding fayre. Meanwhile furtive Robert phones the hotel to book a surprise room for he and Tracy. When Tracy wonders who he’s talking to, Robert’s evasive leaving Tracy troubled.
Clearly in agony, Carla begs Tracy for her painkillers but enjoying the power, Tracy holds them out of reach telling her she deserves to suffer.Eileen arrives home and is pleasantly surprised to find Phelan busy fixing her kitchen cupboards.
Luke finds Bethany skulking in the café. Bethany admits she’s avoiding Lauren and her mates who still persist in terrorizing her. Luke’s deeply concerned.As Michelle opens her birthday cards, Liz sweeps in bearing a huge bouquet of flowers.
Michelle comes clean to Liz explaining how she kissed Will but then came to her senses and has lived with the guilt ever since.Whilst Yasmeen chivvies Sharif in the kitchen, Zeedan and Alya set up the barbecue in the garden.
David fills in DS Kerr on Jason’s work on the garage conversion, his feud with Callum, and how he once gave Jason Callum’s address. In the Rovers, Fiz is perturbed as Sinead knocks back wine and vents her frustration over Chesney.
Sarah tells Todd that Callum attacked her and she’s to blame for his death. As she breaks down, Sarah’s oblivious that Todd believes she’s just confessed to murder. Michelle’s shocked to find Amy grilling Will about how they know each other.
When Steve suggests Amy should have her tea at Tracy’s and start building some bridges, Amy refuses point blank. With Jason clearly stressed, Billy puts pressure on Todd to do the right thing and tell the police about Sarah’s confession.
The police call at No.11 to question Todd. Michelle laments to Eva that Steve can barely look at her, let alone talk to her. The police suggest to Todd that perhaps he, Tony and Jason conspired to kill Callum between them.
As Gemma appears from the kebab shop, Jason turns on her, demanding to know which of Callum’s mates torched his van. Gemma denies all knowledge. Robert continues to goad Zeedan, suggesting he’s got the hots for Leanne.
Amy berates Steve for letting Michelle go, pointing out she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Subdued Steve admits Amy’s right. Determined to make a fresh start, Leanne tells Eva she’s going to look for a new job.
Clearly hopeful, Izzy suggests they should get back together. Not wishing to dash her hopes, Gary agrees it’s a possibility. When Liam steers his remote control car into Caz’s leg, she overreacts and screams in agony.
Ken begs Amy to visit Tracy in hospital but Amy refuses point blank. Handing Bethany some copies of her CV, Gail suggests she should use her skills and find herself a summer job. Bethany reluctantly agrees.
As Leanne does her best to disguise her morning sickness, Simon secretly panics, suspecting her to be terminally ill. Steve’s horrified to realise he’s missing his wedding ring and wonders where it is.
Michelle puts pressure on Steve insisting that a baby of their own would be the best thing ever, but Steve remains unconvinced. The police call at No.8 with Kylie’s belongings and David’s deeply moved to see his blood-stained jacket.
An apologetic Billy explains to Todd that they’ll have to cancel their trip to Formby as he’s been left to run the playgroup at the Community Centre. Having been discharged from hospital for the day, Sarah returns home with Harry.
Worried David will do something stupid, Sarah begs him not to go after Todd and promises that she’ll talk him round. Determined to give Kylie a fitting send off, Freddie and Gemma put some upbeat tunes on the jukebox and enjoy a dance.
Having found his application form in Beth’s handbag, Craig demands some answers. Beth makes out she’s just overprotective and worried it’s a dangerous job. Leanne implores Nick to bury the hatchet with Robert and move on.
Taking Nick’s hand, Leanne announces that they’re expecting a baby and they’re thrilled. Gail’s dumbfounded whilst Steve and Liz are perplexed. Sarah’s gutted to discover Bethany’s failed three exams and blames herself.
