In this programme, historian David Starkey illustrates how the lives of the greatest composers and musicians in history are linked to the destinies of many of Britain's monarchs.. Starkey also explores how much history can be understood from beloved musical works, including `Rule Britannia' and `God Save the Queen'. The programme's score features music performed in historic locations -- such as Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace -- for which they were originally composed. The stories told span six centuries, from the reign of Henry V through the Queen Elizabeth II's lengthy reign.
