Lou and the teenager Chris go to Gorman’s Park to get proof that the flashy entrepreneur is mistreating his animals. Jerry, with the instinct that comes from him and Lou being twins, gets the same idea and turns up there as well.

Lou and Skippy find animal traps in the National Park near Habitat. Somebody is living in the park, and that’s not allowed. But Lou’s anger turns to sympathy when she meets him, 13 year-old Jim, who has been unhappy on his parents’ farm.

Kate’s grandfather Bill is a greenie who runs a small farm up river from Habitat. He’s a lovable old man, and when some fish die in the river near his place, he stages a one-man demonstration at the local paper mill, for polluting the river.

Glen is a boy who wants to be a stuntman. But Glen’s got it all wrong. He’s overweight, and is only using his limited knowledge of stunting (falling on cardboard boxes) to draw attention to himself. Then Glen discovers he has a real talent.

On a dare, Jerry sneaks into a bush tree house where there lives a man who is mad at today’s modern civilisation. He’s guarding a colony of koalas and has let the stories about him spread in order to protect his beloved furry friends.

The twins are baffled by a new girl who moves into the neighbourhood. Why does she always stay at home? And why is she forbidden to visit Habitat? It’s because she is in a wheelchair, the result of a tragic accident in which her mother was killed.

Jerry is fired up with enthusiasm for cross country running, and he is disappointed when his chief rival Brendan cheats in a race and Jerry loses. Meanwhile, Easter is approaching, and an egg hunt is organized at Habitat for the local littlies.

The Pirates are a boys’ gang, they won’t let Jerry in, he forms his own gang, the Buccaneers. Meanwhile, the realizes that the Pirates’ noisy activity is driving animals away from a waterhole in the National Park. The boys have got to be stopped.

Lou and Jerry are mad keen to join the Nippers, the Junior Surf Lifesavers. But Lou’s swimming is not quite up to scratch, and everyone has to make a concerted effort to help her train. Then things go badly. 1

A balloon is at Habitat as a tourist attraction, the Hammonds have guests, Lou’s friend Tamiko and a Japanese boy who is staying with Tamiko’s family.

Jerry is saving money for a bike. When vandals attack a primary school, he stakes out a school in the hope of collecting the reward money. Instead of catching the vandals, he scares them off when they could have been nabbed by a security guard.

A balloon is tethered at Habitat as a tourist attraction, the Hammonds have guests - Lou’s friend Tamiko and a Japanese boy who is staying with Tamiko’s family. The Japanese boy is discovered to be the heir to the great Nakamura electronics family.
24 Skippy and the Roos

The Roos are Jerry’s soccer team. Kate is their trainer, Skippy is their mascot, and Lou videos their games for discussion after practice. In mid season, however, Thel and Sonny, the supports of all this activity, are laid low with flu.
25 Skippy and the Beach Bullies

The kids enjoy going to the beach and watching the surfers. Two bullies start picking on the smaller children. Assisted by Skippy, Jerry and Lou get the better of the bullies until Josh calls on his big brother for help.

Kate’s nephew Sean has come to Habitat for a visit. He is primarily a city kid and unhappy in the bush. He is even less pleased when he discovers that he has to go and spend some time with his Granddad Bill who he thinks is a bit of a nut.

While playing on a home made flying fox, Lou gets a bump on the head when she collides with a young girl who ran into Lou’s path. The young girl runs off, and in a half daze, Lou thinks that she has seen an almost extinct wallaby in the bush.

Pretending you are something you are not can get you into trouble. Derek, an asthmatic boy from the city comes to Habitat for a visit. He hates telling other kids that he has asthma, because they always treat him differently when they find out.

When Jerry and Lou find out that the prize for coming first in the Junior Ranger’s competition is a trip to Perth, they pull out all stops in an effort to be the winner, to the detriment of their school work, their chores, and even their friends.

While spending a few days with Thel at her fishing shack, Jerry and Lou run into Grumpy Johnson an old man who owns the property across the river and has felt for forty years that his family was cheated out of their land by Thel’s grandfather.

The water main at Habitat bursts, Jerry and Lou find out at school that there are lots of people who have never had running water and decide to make a project out of raising enough money to buy a water pump for a poor African village.

Joe Flood, brings his small and less than prosperous circus to Habitat. Its main attraction is Sinbad the tiger. Sonny finds a young boy pretending to shoot the animals and people with a real rifle that he has taken from a cupboard at home.

Many people may find the study of orchids a boring subject, but when it is presented by Jerry and Lou’s grandmother, Eleanor, it becomes absolutely fascinating. Eleanor travels the world searching out the rarest and most beautiful of orchids.

Jerry and Tim have been stealing golf balls from a local golf course. They are found out and are given the punishment of weeding the gardens to pay for the value of the balls. Brad, the junior pro, decides to teach them what golf is all about.

Skippy decides to hop into the boat on a water skiing trip.. At a service station Skippy is left behind, but finds her way to the river where the kids are skiing. Expensive houses line the river, and when the gate of one opens, Skippy hops through.
36 Skippy and the Wedding

Life at Habitat is disrupted when the famous wildlife film maker, Greg O’Neil, arrives to film the mating dance of the Cape Barren Goose. He turns Kate into a researcher, the vet’s surgery into a production office and the children into assistants.

About this show

In this revival of the charming Aussie series, Sonny Hammond is a park ranger with two children, Jerry and Louise. The kids are involved in adventures that often have an environmental theme. Kate Burgess is a researcher at the habitat.
