Part One: Ancient Voices visits many historic sites along the pilgrimage/tourist trail in order to establish Egypt’s ancient history and its relationship with Canaan and the ancient Near East. The excavations and monuments visited, reveal a diverse range of farming activities, social lifestyles and religious beliefs that led to an exchange of ideas, trade and commerce between these regions. But our story also highlights other factors which sought to interrupt this harmonious order. The culmination was the Hyksos administration and the 2nd Intermediate Period in Egyptian history. It is within this period that the Bible suggests the entries of Jacob and Joseph into Egypt could have taken place.
