I enjoyed the first two episodes, but in the third episode the Brian became ordinary to the point of being dull. At the end a new mystery man comes into the bar and announces he's in charge. It doesn't take a smart guy to demand proof of his authority nor should Brian be threatened by someone who clearly doesn't have access to NZT because his 'you report to me' speech could have probably written by a sixth grader. Someone who understands what NZT does would know that the next morning he will dance circles around this nemesis. Instead Brian breaks up with his girlfriend (as if that is going to stop someone from using het to blackmail him,) and spends the rest of the night wallowing in self pity like a little girl. Maybe the next episode will show it was all an act, but if this nemesis storyline doesn't end quickly then I think we can assume the NZT has worn off for the writers of the show. Guys, the plot is centered around someone who is James Bond, Dr. Who, and Sherlock Holmes in one. Making him a blithering idiot kills the plausibility of the character.

I hadn't seen the movie before but I watched the tv pilot episode for free - then bought the movie and 2nd tv episode. If you like stories about average guys doing remarkable things, I think you'll enjoy the story; it's equal parts action, drama, comedy, and special effects... and the main character from the start feels just like a life-long friend. Also the FBI agent is quite an attractive woman (bonus!).

I enjoyed the main character being a not cookie cutter personality. Example he likes to explain things in collages. It also asks a lot of questions, and not outrite to your face, that the movie never did or never got to far into. Like do you become a different person on the drug, would you still be human with prolonged exposure, and what do you really remember after it wares off. And to top it off they got the original actor to do cameos not just for the pilot but about 3 times in season one alone!
