About this show

Annalise Keating (Academy-Award Nominee Viola Davis) is everything you hope your Criminal Law professor will be - brilliant, passionate, creative and charismatic. She's also everything you don't expect - sexy, glamorous, unpredictable and dangerous. As fearless in the courtroom as she is in the classroom, Annalise is a defense attorney who represents the most hardened, violent criminals - people who've committed everything from fraud to arson to murder - and she'll do almost anything to win their freedom. On the surface, Annalise seems like she has it all - a successful career and loving husband, Sam (Tom Verica) - but her relationship with a local Philadelphia detective, Nate (Billy Brown), will force her to confront secrets about her life she never saw coming. Each year, Annalise selects a group of the smartest, most promising students to come work at her law firm. The students vying for this coveted position include Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch), a wide-eyed, likable boy-next-door recently accepted off the waitlist; Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King), a confident, ambitious overachiever born knowing how to "lean in;" Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee), a sly, sophisticated heartbreaker used to getting any prize he lays his eyes on; Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza), a quiet, sensitive idealist who's easy to underestimate and Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry), an entitled know-it-all born into a world of Ivy League educations and country club memberships. The students all work under two of Annalise's dedicated associates: Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber), a local Philly boy done good, and Bonnie Winterbottom (Liza Weil), a sweet, observant team-player with a hidden edge Little do they know that they will have to apply what they learned in class towards real life, in this masterful, sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller from Shondaland, the executive producers of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.

I love the concept. However, the show ruins it. First off, they pad out the show by adding pointless sex scenes that drag on, dozens of flash-foward and flashback sequences (I swear, there's maybe 5, 1-2 min. sequences each episode), and the big murder that they commit (it's revealed in the very first scene) does not change the characters WHATSOEVER. And to top it off, they rehash the plot of the first season in the second season where they commit A SECOND MURDER. Don't waste your time with this.

This series started well with the weekly stories with the overhanging backstory. But as the show continued it became more bizarre. I can appreciate the characters but for some reason ot of this stuff comes from left field. Half of me roots for AK the other half does not. The plot just does not seem logical in my view. The gay love scenes are scandalous and add to the diversity of the plotlines. But overall it feels choppy. Still glad Viola won an Emmy for her efforts.

I don't like it its boring lost attention into it right after the end of the pilot episode and tried watching the 2nd episode. It just doesn't have what it takes to keep me focused and interested in the show. Its kind of like scandal and revenge both in one show but not as good as both shows are separate on their own. I don't think this show will last to another season if it does I'll certainly be surprised. I don't plan on making this a show I'll be looking forward to or having it recorded on my DVR.
