The police try to channel an outbreak of gang warfare into the boxing ring, but when someone stabs a gang member to death, Phryne and Jack get embroiled in the dangerous world of fight-rigging and illegal betting. 6 Marked for Murder
10/11/13
The captain of a local football team is found hanged before a game against the crosstown rivals, who appear to be the likely suspects. However, Phryne and Jack find evidence that the man may have killed himself and have to figure out why someone might want to make a suicide look like a murder.

Medical students assembled for an anatomy lecture are shocked to find the cadaver they expected is actually the fresh corpse of one of their professors. 9 Framed for Murder
11/1/13
The on-set death of the leading man jeopardizes the future of The Bride of Babylon, an Australian silent movie trying to fend off competition from Hollywood. As an investor in the film, Phryne is called in to investigate. When the director is also killed, Phryne decides to direct the proceedings herself.
10 Death on the Vine
11/8/13
A vineyard owner hires Phryne to look into a suspicious death, but by the time she gets to the remote town, he’s dead, too. The locals are hostile to her inquiries, especially the town’s police sergeant, and Phryne calls a certain detective inspector from Melbourne for help.

11/15/13
A bookkeeper and budding announcer at a city radio station is found choked to death, the latest in a succession of incidents threatening to put new stations out of business. 12 Unnatural Habits
11/22/13
When the body of a drowned and bound young woman is traced to a nuns’ home for “wayward girls,” the new chief commissioner—stressing the need for diplomacy in dealing with the church—takes Jack off the case. It’s left to Phryne to expose the goings-on behind the convent walls.

About this show

Based on the novels by Kerry Greenwood. Seen on public television. In1920s Melbourne, the Honorable Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis, Girl with a Pearl Earring) is a thoroughly modern woman operating in a mostly male world. The glamorous “lady detective” goes about her work with a pistol close at hand—and, more often than not, a male admirer even closer. To the dismay of Detective Inspector Jack Robinson (Nathan Page, The Secret Life of Us), Phryne’s investigations take her through back alleys, jazz clubs, and shady neighborhoods. Ignoring the dangers all around her, she glides through life determined to enjoy every moment. But beneath her devil-may-care attitude, Phryne hides ghosts from the past that continue to haunt her. Gorgeously costumed and evocatively shot, MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES also stars Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Cloudstreet), Ashleigh Cummings (Tomorrow, When the War Began), Miriam Margolyes (Little Dorrit), and Nicholas Bell (Shine). Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings) guest stars.

Not Poirot, Miss Marple or Foyle's War but good production values and easy to watch. When is Jack's former father in law going to be unmasked as the villain he most certainly is?
