When competing local TV stations in Greenville Mississippi find themselves neck and neck in the ratings, WABG's Morning show host Lucy Biggers must find a way to out-do her arch rival, WXVT's Callie Carrol.
It's a morning news showdown when Callie confronts Lucy for stealing one of her guests. Later, Lucy shows up unprepared to do a live broadcast, and Eric gets a phone call that could change his weather career forever.
School is in session at WABG and WXVT, as Steve shows Eric how to sex up the weather, and Pam gives Lucy and Chris a lesson in on-air chemistry. Eric hears back about his potential job offer, and David defies Pam to resurrect his "What That's You Say?" segment with one explosive story.
Lucy's mom, an old TV pro, makes a guest appearance on Good Morning Mississippi and joins Lucy in a snake filled swamp. Meanwhile, Steve and Eric try speed dating, and Callie gets down and dirty with Vernon.
The campaign for the Delta Democratic Awards' "Best TV Personality" heats up, and Lucy's preoccupation with winning gets her in hot water with Lakiya. Plus, Steve takes over WXVT, and David casts Lakiya and Pam in his musical.
Both stations pull out all the stops before the ratings come in! Callie steps on the scale one last time, Eric tries to blow everyone away with his tornado story, and Lucy throws everything but the kitchen sink into her morning show.
From the producer of The Office, Breaking Greenville takes viewers behind the cameras of two real-life rival TV news stations in one of the smallest TV markets in America: Greenville, Miss. This series spotlights the playful - and at times cut-throat - rivalry between two local news stations and their dynamic newscasters.
