Uryu and the others attempt to save Ichigo, who has been engulfed by Muramasa, but with little success. Meanwhile, the Soul Reapers of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads team up with their own Zanpakuto to fight the Hollows that have appeared in the World of the Living.
Inside Muramasaês mind, Ichigo clashes blades with Muramasa. As Muramasaês body and mind reach their limits, he begins to transform into a Hollow. With little time remaining, Ichigo and Muramasa decide to settle their score once and for all.
A mysterious man who calls himself "Muramasa" appears in the Seireitei to declare war against the Soul Reapers. Using his powers, Muramasa gives physical form to the Zanpakuto and liberates them from the captains and lieutenants of the 13 Court Guard Squads. Without the use of their weapons, the Soul Reapers now find themselves in a tough battle against the Zanpakuto who have turned against their former masters.
Having sustained severe injuries in battle, Rukia escapes to the World of the Living and is saved by Ichigo. A mysterious woman then arrives through the Senkaimon and proceeds to attack the two using the same Zanpakuto as Rukia. Rukia tells a confused Ichigo that the woman is in fact the manifested form of her Zanpakuto, Sodenoshirayuki, and that the other Zanpakuto have also gone rogue to cause destruction in the Seireitei.
After hearing that Byakuya has gone missing, Rukia returns to the Seireitei to search for her brother and in the process comes across Sodenoshirayuki. Having no desire to fight, Rukia tries to persuade her Zanpakuto to stand down. But Sodenoshirayuki, who is out for revenge, refuses and goes on to attack Rukia.
Muramasa appears before Ichigo and explains how he freed the Zanpakuto from the Soul Reapers, as well as gave them a physical form to exist. Muramasa then attacks, and during the course of the battle, Zangetsu is freed from Ichigo. Unable to use his Zanpakuto, Ichigo falls before Zangetsu's Getsugatensho.
The Zanpakuto rebellion has left the Seireitei in a state of destruction with many Soul Reapers still missing, including Squad Six captain Byakuya Kuchiki. Hoping to find some clues, Renji returns to the place where Byakuya was last seen, when the manifested Zabimaru appears to challenge him.
Inside Ichigo's mind, Muramasa meets Hollow Ichigo. Taking an interest in him, Muramasa attempts to manifest Hollow Ichigo like he did with Zangetsu, only to discover that his spell does not work on Hollow Ichigo. Meanwhile, Shuhei and Renji find themselves confronted by Kazeshini and Zabimaru. Still unable to use their Shikai, the two Soul Reapers are thrown into a difficult battle against their own Zanpakuto.
Ichigo has regained his Shikai and battles Muramasa. But Zangetsu, who has sided with Muramasa, steps in to fight Ichigo. Elsewhere, Renji has also regained his Shikai and battles Zabimaru. However, both Ichigo and Renji must come up with another plan when their Zanpakuto release their Bankai.
Ichigo's and Renji's victories against their own Zanpakuto has proven that a Soul Reaper can reclaim his Zanpakuto by defeating it in battle. However, the Zanpakuto still remain in their manifested state even after being freed from Muramasa's mind control. While Renji struggles to deal with Zabimaru's mischief, Ichigo goes to visit Rukia, who is still recovering from her battle with Sodenoshirayuki.
Haineko and Tobiume, two Zanpakuto who do not get along, are walking through the woods when they spot Ichigo, who is in pursuit of Senbonzakura and Byakuya. Hoping to have some fun, the two attack Ichigo to see which one of them can defeat him first, but are stopped by lieutenants Rangiku Matsumoto and Momo Hinamori.
The battle of Rangiku and Momo versus Haineko and Tobiume heats up, as both sides try to outsmart their opponents. Elsewhere, captain Toshiro Hitsugaya has located his Zanpakuto Hyorinmaru. But to Toshiro's surprise, Hyorinmaru has lost all trace of his memory following his release by Muramasa. In order to help regain Hyorinmaru's lost memories and prove that he is its true master, Toshiro challenges his Zanpakuto to battle.
Results from Mayuri Kurotsuchi's experiment using Marechiyo Omaeda's Gegetsuburi show that a manifested Zanpakuto cannot revert to its original sword state when defeated by someone other than its master. Meanwhile, Ichigo is gaining the upper hand in his re-match against Muramasa, when the battle is suddenly interrupted by the appearance of Byakuya's Zanpakuto Senbonzakura.
The Thirteen Court Guard Squads, particularly Renji and Rukia, are shocked by the news of Byakuya now supposedly working with Muramasa. Meanwhile, inside Muramasa's hideout, the Zanpakuto cannot hide their discomfort over having Byakuya join them. Senbonzakura is especially distrustful, and demands his former master to prove his loyalty to Muramasa by cutting down Rukia's Zanpakuto Sodenoshirayuki.
At the Squad Six Barracks, Renji and Rukia are determined to know why Byakuya has betrayed the Soul Society to work with Muramasa. Their conversation is cut short by the arrival of the manifested Zanpakuto, followed by Ichigo and the other Soul Reapers, and battle soon breaks out between the two sides.
Yumichika is trapped inside Chuhlhourne's briar of darkness. Learning he cannot be seen from the outside world, Yumichika unveils his Zanpakuto's true power. Meanwhile, Izuru Kira is fighting Abirama Redder over at the south pillar. Abirama goes into his sword release state "Aguila" to attack Izuru from the sky. Izuru makes use of his surroundings and attacks Abirama with Kido. Annoyed by Izuru's cheap tactics, Abirama goes in for the kill.
Shuhei Hisagi battles Findorr Calius, who has increased his strength level equal to that of a squad lieutenant by shattering his own mask. Shuhei, overwhelmed by the enemy's power, is forced to stay on the defensive. Findorr ridicules Shuhei's strength as not being that of a lieutenant and proceeds to finish him off using the sword release "Pinza Aguda."
Shuhei, Izuru, Yumichika, and Ikkaku fight to guard the four pillars used to switch the real Karakura Town with a fake one. Despite their efforts, one of the pillars is destroyed by the Fracción Poww, and the real Karakura Town begins to slowly return to the World of the Living. If the town returns, the Soul Reapers will be unable to fight. To prevent that from happening, Captain Sajin Komamura and Lieutenant Tetsuzaemon Iba of Squad Seven arrive at the scene to face Poww.
The Soul Reapers succeed in defending the four pillars from being destroyed, preventing the real Karakura Town from returning to the World of the Living. Feeling responsible for this turn of events, Fracciónes Ggio and Nirgge promise Barragan that they will take care of the Soul Reapers. Soi Fon and Marechiyo Omaeda take up their swords to face the two Fracciónes. The standoff is finally broken when Head Captain Genryusai Yamamoto signals them to begin battle.
Soi Fon and Marechiyo Omaeda are to take on Ggio and Nirgge. Soi Fon confidently goes after Ggio, but Ggio puts up a good fight. Ggio restrains Soi Fon with one of his attacks and releases his Tigre Estoque. Meanwhile, Omaeda is struggling in his fight against Nirgge. The two exchange insults and attacks, but when Nirgge grows impatient, he releases his Mamut and comes after Omaeda with his giant trunk.
Ggio, who released his Hollow power, is overpowering Soi Fon. Marechiyo Omaeda realizes that Soi Fon is in a dire situation and comes to help her. But Soi Fon says that it would be a disgrace for her to accept his help, and she continues to fight Ggio alone. But Omaeda, who is watching her fight from the sidelines, becomes a little uneasy when Ggio proves to be a tougher opponent than expected. His concern for Soi Fon distracts him from his own fight against Nirgge, and Nirgge takes the opportunity to fire his Cero. Around the same time, Ggio pins Soi Fon against a wall and prepares to finish her off.
Rangiku battles Halibel's three Fracciónes, Apache, Mila Rose, and Sun-Sun. She attacks with his Haineko, but even that is not very effective against the three opponents. While fighting Halibel, Hitsugaya senses Rangiku's Spiritual Pressure, but he is forced to concentrate on his own battle and cannot come to Rangiku's aid. Apache quickly grows impatient with Rangiku, who remains on the defensive, and she launches an attack while saying that Rangiku wouldn't have had a chance even if they were fighting one-on-one. But just then, an unexpected person rescues Rangiku using a familiar attack...
Apache, Mila Rose, and Sun-Sun release their Resurrección forms. In addition, they combine their left arms to create a mysterious monster called Ayon. Rangiku and the others are shaken by the sight of the monster and the strength of its Spiritual Pressure. Rangiku collapses in the face of Ayon's overwhelming power, and even Hinamori, who tries to rescue Rangiku from further danger, is defeated. Just then, Kira and Hisagi, who have wrapped up their battle at the pillars, sense that their comrades are in a predicament and rush over. Can the two of them take on Ayon?
The Soul Reapers are defeated one after another at the hands of Ayon. Seeing this, Head Captain Genryusai Yamamoto decides to get involved. He hits Ayon with one of his attacks, but Ayon doesn't even seem to be hurt by it. Ayon then fires back at Genryusai stronger than ever. Meanwhile, the battles between the captains and Espadas continue. Hitsugaya is fighting Halibel, Kyoraku is fighting Stark, and Soi Fon and Omaeda are fighting Barragan. And over in Hueco Mundo, Ulquiorra and Ichigo face off.
Mizuiro starts at Karakura First High School without any great expectations or ambitions. On the day that the students are assigned to classes, Keigo, who has been hanging around Mizuiro since they met, is shivering with fear. He has just found out that he is in the same class as the notorious ruffians Yasutora Sado and Ichigo Kurosaki. Meanwhile, in the Soul Society, the new lieutenant has been selected. Mizuiro, Ichigo, and the Soul Society all seem to be starting a new chapter in their lives.
Rangiku and the members of the Women's Soul Reaper Association take a relaxing trip to a beach in the World of the Living. All the women are excited about wearing bathing suits that they have picked out for the occasion. Jushiro Ukitake, Ikkaku, and Renji make their way to the beach as well. When a bewildered Ichigo goes into the beach shack, he runs into Chad, Uryu, and Orihime, who are working there. Toshiro Hitsugaya uses his Hyorinmaru to make the ice required for the shaved ice they sell. When everyone reassembles on the beach, Jushiro proposes a sand art contest. They all put some money in a betting pool and start making various things out of sand.
Ikkaku and Yumichika are sent after a Hollow that ran away to the World of the Living. They have no prearranged lodging, so they decide to stay at the Asano family house. Keigo seems slightly annoyed, but his older sister, Mizuho, takes a liking to Ikkaku's bald head. She starts trying to seduce Ikkaku by showing her feminine side. But she follows him around to the point of annoying Ikkaku. This prompts Yumichika to half-jokingly put a wig on Ikkaku, but this ends up provoking some major problems!
In the Soul Society 110 years ago, the Thirteen Court Guard Squads are made up of unfamiliar faces. The captain of Squad Five is the masked Visored, Shinji Hirako who currently resides in the World of the Living. And Squad Five's lieutenant is Sosuke Aizen. That day, the two of them go to Squad One's barracks at the invitation of the head captain. An induction ceremony is to be held for the Soul Reaper who will assume the position of Squad Twelve's captain. This Soul Reaper was chosen to become captain based on Yoruichi Shihoin's commendation.
Kisuke Urahara replaces the newly promoted Kirio Hikifune as captain of Squad Twelve. Hiyori Sarugaki, lieutenant of Squad Twelve, cannot hide her dissatisfaction with the new captain. She does not like his attitude and thinks he looks undependable. She also can't stand the fact that ever since Kisuke came, there has been a carefree mood among squad members. On top of that, Kisuke comes from Squad Two's Stealth Force, and Hiyori picks a fight with him every chance she gets. Kisuke tries in his own way to gain Hiyori's trust...
Kisuke takes Hiyori to the Special underground Confinement Unit inside the Squad Two barracks. Nicknamed the Maggot's Nest, this place imprisons enlisted Thirteen Court Guard Squad members whose beliefs or actions have been deemed dangerous. Kisuke used to oversee the institution as commanding officer of the Confinement Unit. While he was in that post, he realized he might be able to take the threat posed by the detained people and use it to his advantage. His purpose for coming here is to see the most dangerous detainee—the one man in the Maggot's Nest who has been put in a cage.
Nine years have passed since Kisuke Urahara was appointed captain of Squad Twelve. Bizarre deaths start to occur in the Rukon District where people disappear, leaving only their clothes behind. When word of these incidents reaches the Soul Reapers' ears, even the Seireitei is overcome by an uneasy mood. The captain of Squad Nine, Kensei Muguruma, investigates the cause of these incidents despite being bothered by his lieutenant Mashiro's selfishness. Just then, he hears the screams of children and the sound of a Hollow's footsteps chasing them. Kensei tries to help, but...
Kensei Muguruma's and Mashiro Kuna's Spiritual Pressure disappears. The Seireitei deems this a dire situation. Kisuke Urahara, who sent Hiyori to Squad Nine, volunteers to go to the scene of their disappearance, as he is worried that she has yet to return. But the Head Captain doesn't allow him to go and instead sends the captains of Squad Three, Five, and Seven: Rojuro Ohtoribashi, Shinji Hirako, and Love Aikawa, respectively. In addition, Kido Corps lieutenant Hachigen Ushoda and the captain of Squad Eight, Lisa Yadomaru, get involved. Shinji and the others rush to the scene. When they arrive, a terrible situation is awaiting them.
At Squad Nine's camp, Shinji Hirako and the others run into Kensei Muguruma, who is donning a strange mask. Kensei starts to attack them, and he is too powerful to stop even with all of them combined. Just when it seems like Hachigen's level 90 kido has somehow restrained Kensei, the injured Hiyori transforms in the same way that Kensei did. To make matters worse, darkness falls upon them, and Shinji and company are taken down one by one...
Sosuke Aizen suddenly appears in front of Shinji Hirako and the others. He draws his sword on Shinji, who is agonized by his Hollow transformation and cannot move his body at will. But just before he strikes, Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tsukabishi show up, having followed Shinji's group because they were worried about Hiyori. The sight of a masked Shinji and company does not unnerve Kisuke. It seems Kisuke has already figured out the perpetrator in the case of the disappearing souls, as well as the perpetrator's objective. Sosuke listens to Kisuke, and his meek facial expression completely changes. Then, Tessai attacks Sosuke...
Ichigo and his friends leave Karakura Town with the intent of bringing Orihime back, and they continue fighting in Hueco Mundo. Nevertheless, Hollows continue to appear in the World of the Living. Kisuke Urahara also seems pretty busy. He sacrifices sleep to develop a "Konso Cop Karakurizer Transformation Watch." At the command, "Career Change!" Kon transforms into Karakurizer. Karakurizer attempts to restore peace in the town while trying to become popular with the ladies. Specially designed by Uryu Ishida, Karakurizer's cape has one and a half times more pleats than a normal cape. But Karakurizer is repeatedly confronted by powerful Hollows, and he finds himself in deep trouble.
Kisuke Urahara has forced Kon to transform into Konso Cop Karakurizer. As Karakurizer, Kon has some powerful allies: Don Kanonji, who has taken on the form of Karakurizer Spirit, Tatsuki as Karakurizer Beast, Chizuru as Karakurizer Erotic, Keigo as Karakurizer Delicate, and Ururu as Karakurizer Tiny Devil. But these Karakurizers only realize their alliance moments before a giant Hollow fortress appears in the sky. How will they fare against the biggest opponent they've ever faced? Fight, Karakurizers!
Sosuke Aizen brings Kaname Tosen, Gin Ichimaru, and the Espadas Stark, Barragan, and Halibel to the World of the Living on a mission to destroy Karakura Town. The Espadas stand before the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Before facing the Espadas, The Head Captain uses Ryujinjakka to trap Sosuke and the others in a ring of flames, but this doesn't seem to faze Sosuke. In the meantime, Ulquiorra and Orihime are fighting at Las Noches' Fifth Tower. When Ulquiorra asks her if she is afraid to die alone, Orihime's response surprises him.
The Head Captain expected the battle to take place in Karakura Town, so he fights to keep it from being destroyed. He places pillars in four corners of the town to switch the real Karakura Town with a replica that was made in the Soul Society. Barragan finds out that he can bring back the real Karakura Town if he breaks the pillars, so he makes the Hollows attack them. The Thirteen Court Guard Squads and the Espadas are fighting somewhere far from the pillars, so the guards cannot make it in time to protect the pillars.
Shuhei, Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Izuru start fighting against the Fracciónes that Barragan deployed. Charlotte Chuhlhourn, who appears before Yumichika, tries to flaunt his beauty, but Yumichika refuses to look at him. When Yumichika chops off Chuhlhourn's hair, Chuhlhourn's anger is pushed over the edge, and he releases his Reina de Rosa. Yumichika finds that his Fujikujaku has little effect against Charlotte in this form.
Nnoitora and Nelliel continue to battle. They are nearly equal in strength. The two of them used to fight side by side as fellow Espadas. However, Nnoitora always hated Nelliel and has challenged her to a duel a number of times, only to lose every time. Nnoitora is not only irritated at losing but at Nelliel for never bothering to finish him off. Nelliel only sees Nnoitora as a beast that fights based on pure instinct and not as an equal opponent. Nevertheless, Nnoitora takes dirty measures to try to fight Nelliel again.
Nelliel regains her memory, and Pesche and Dondochakka realize that she is going to give her all in the battle against Nnoitora. In order to go fight with Nelliel, Pesche and Dondochakka summon all their strength. Their newfound strength is a result of the training they continued even after leaving Las Noches so that they could protect the unconscious Nelliel. Pesche and Dondochakka save Uryu and Renji, who were being toyed with at Szayelaporro's will. Szayelaporro is taken aback by Pesche and Dondochakka's new selves, and then they bring out their combining technique!
Just when Nelliel and Nnoitora's battle is about to come to an end, something unexpected happens to Nelliel's body. Ichigo's group find themselves in a sticky situation yet again. Helpless, Ichigo and his friends are beginning to collapse when Kenpachi Zaraki, Retsu Unohana, Byakuya Kuchiki, and Mayuri Kurotsuchi of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads show up. Kisuke Urahara stabilized Garganta, the entrance to Hueco Mundo, for the captains to use. Kenpachi finds Ichigo on the verge of death, and then he takes on Tesla, who attacks him...
Byakuya visits Rukia, who is unconscious after being injured in the battle against Aaroniero Arruruerie. Zommari Rureaux, Espada Number 7, happens to be there, attempting to finish her off. Zommari, who is fastest even amongst the Espadas, uses an equally speedy technique, Gemelos Sonido, to overpower Byakuya. But Byakuya is able to dodge all of his attacks. Zommari is enraged when Byakuya claims to be superior to him, and Zommari tries to prove he is stronger by taking on his Resurreccion form.
Zommari's technique, "Amor," takes control over anything its eyes gaze upon. He uses this power to control Rukia's body and use her as a shield. This angers Byakuya, and he releases his Bankai, Gokei Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, destroying Aaroniero's palace. But Zommari survives the explosion, despite severe injuries. He brings out a technique that uses all of his strength and challenges Byakuya. Meanwhile, Mayuri, who appears before Uryu and Renji, suffers against Szayelaporro's doll that takes control of its opponent's five senses.
Szayelaporro is exasperated when his powers don't work at all against Mayuri Kurotsuchi, and he ends up being enveloped by Mayuri's Konjiki Ashisogijizo. Just then, something happens to Nemu, who was being held hostage. It turns out Szayelaporro was able to come back to life by going inside Nemu's body and sucking up her Reishi. Meanwhile, Kenpachi and Nnoitora's fight is nowhere close to ending. The two are equal in strength, and their battle intensifies even more.
Szayelaporro used his prisoner Nemu as a medium to come back to life. However, Nemu's body is permeated with the new medicine that Mayuri developed. Szayelaporro experiences the dreadful effects of the medicine himself... Meanwhile, Chad and Rukia, who have been unconscious since their fight against Nnoitora and Aaroniero, regain consciousness when Squad Four rushes over to treat them. At the same time, Kenpachi and Nnoitora continue to fight their never-ending battle. Kenpachi is unable to cut through Nnoitora's Hierro, which is the toughest even among the Espadas, and Kenpachi is gradually pushed back.
Kenpachi goes after Nnoitora's eye and pierces his eye patch, but the eye patch was hiding a dreadful secret. Nnoitora celebrates a victory, but Kenpachi continues fighting and gets a thrill out of trying to cut Nnoitora. When Kenpachi's blade finally begins to penetrate Nnoitora's hard skin, Nnoitora is shocked to see himself bleeding. Nnoitora attacks Kenpachi with a hand chop, tearing off Kenpachi's eye patch.
When Kenpachi's eye patch comes off, releasing his Spiritual Pressure and true strength, Nnoitora invokes his sword attack, Santa Teresa. Ichigo and the others are surprised by the six-armed monstrous figure. Kenpachi tries to cut off one arm at a time, but Nnoitora's arms only grow back. Unable to defeat Nnoitora's arms, Kenpachi gradually loses his advantage. But Kenpachi continues to smile, overjoyed by the endless fight. Nnoitora, finding this insane, increases his attacks in hope of defeating Kenpachi at once.
Nnoitora has never shown any mercy to his opponents, and he has always finished them off. Nnoitora's reason for fighting has always been purely to fight. He has been fighting and becoming stronger, hoping to someday die in battle. His battle against Kenpachi grants his wish. Meanwhile, Sosuke Aizen finally makes a move. He makes one of the Espadas, Stark, capture Orihime again and lock her up in a tower. Then, he takes Kaname Tosen and Gin Ichimaru to the World of the Living to destroy Karakura Town.
After ending the battle against Shusuke Amagai, the noble Kasumiohji Clan tries to restore peace. But one day, Rurichiyo Kasumiohji, who supposedly became the head of the family, goes off to the World of the Living by herself after getting in a fight with Kenryu. Ichigo tells Rurichiyo to be more conscious of her duty as head of her family and return to the Soul Society. Rurichiyo pouts at his bluntness, and she runs off. Ichigo and his friends are worried when she doesn't return even after sundown, and they begin to search for her.
Rurichiyo and Kenryu's fight was over how to revitalize the Kasumiohji Clan. Rurichiyo is concerned about the low spirits of her people, and she wants to host a soccer tournament. Kenryu says they should first mend relations with other clans and influential people. They continue to disagree, and when Ichigo and his friends are dragged into it, they decide to settle the fight with a game of soccer. Rurichiyo, Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, and Enryu are on Team Rurichiyo, while Kenryu, Rukia, Uryu, Kon, and for some reason, Yoruichi, make up Team Kenryu. How will this match end?!
Ichigo and his friends have narrowly escaped Hanza Nukui's team's attacks. But Uryu and Chad have been inundated with the Spirit Energy of Bakkoutos, and Orihime's healing power doesn't seem to be working. On top of that, Yoruichi, who has been spying on the Soul Society, reveals that Rurichiyo and Shu Kannogi are to be married in a matter of days. Kisuke Urahara speculates that this marriage will be coerced with a Rurichiyo double. Meanwhile, Rurichiyo is deep in thought, staring at the injured Uryu and Chad.
Rurichiyo has gone back to the Soul Society to take back control of the Kasumiohji Clan. Ichigo, Rukia, Kenryu, and Enryu follow her through the Senkaimon, and they barge in on Rurichiyo and Shu's wedding at the Kasumiohji palace. However, the Soul Reapers of Squad Two, led by Soi Fon, are waiting for them there. Apparently, Gyokaku Kumoi anticipated Ichigo and the others coming and set up a trap in advance. Ichigo and the gang are surrounded, and Ichigo yells out to Rurichiyo. Soi Fon's squad is pushed back by Ichigo's determination. Rurichiyo hears Ichigo call out to her but responds with something unexpected.
Ichigo and Rukia are being chased down by the Thirteen Court Guard Squads after sabotaging Rurichiyo and Shu's wedding and taking Shu hostage. The Soul Reapers, led by Squads Two and Three, put out an intense search effort, but when dawn comes they still haven't found Ichigo and Rukia. Ichigo, Rukia, and Shu are hiding in the underground waterway and waiting for things to quiet down in the Seireitei. Meanwhile, Shusuke Amagai and Izuru Kira, who saw the attack at the Kasumiohji palace as a very serious matter, are keeping a close eye on Makoto Kibune.
After Shu Kannogi tearfully tells Shusuke Amagai how he feels, Shusuke loses his feelings of ill will towards Ichigo and instead decides to help in their search for Rurichiyo. Ichigo worries that this would be considered an act of betrayal to the Thirteen Court Guard Squads on Shusuke's part, but Shusuke says that he must take responsibility, as it is possible that one of his men, Makoto Kibune, was involved in this ordeal. Elsewhere, Genryusai gets word of Shusuke's actions in an unexpected way, and the other captains are shocked by the news. Then, squads of Soul Reapers are told to mobilize to stop not only Ichigo but Shusuke as well.
The Soul Reapers stop chasing after Ichigo for the time being and focus on restoring order in the Seireitei. In the midst of it all, Jushiro Ukitake and Shunsui Kyoraku begin to question why Genryusai doesn't enter the Kasumiohji Clan's grounds. In the meantime, Ichigo and Shusuke rush to the Third Squad's barracks at Izuru's notification. There, they see Kasumiohji Clan's assassins running away with someone who looks like Rurichiyo, and they follow after them. Meanwhile, the members of Squad Three head to the training facility at Shusuke's command, and they come across Izuru and Makoto fighting. And in the following moment, Makoto defeats the squad members with his Zanpakuto.
The intense battle between Izuru Kira and Makoto Kibune continues at Squad Three's training facility. Makoto, who was tired of not being taken seriously despite possessing an overwhelming amount of Spiritual Pressure, took part in the Kasumiohji Clan's conspiracy in order to become the best Soul Reaper. Izuru's life is at risk against Makoto's Bakkouto, Reppu. Makoto says that he plans on annihilating Squad Three and furthering the damage done inside the Seireitei by Ichigo's group's rampage. Makoto's words infuriate Izuru. In the meantime, Ichigo and Shusuke run into Renji while pursuing Rurichiyo.
At the Head Captain's command, all the Soul Reapers of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads break into the Kasumiohji Clan's palace at once. The Kasumiohji Clan is a special aristocratic family who make the swords presented to the royal family. They are exempt from the law, and the Soul Reapers cannot do anything about that. However, when Izuru Kira defeated Makoto Kibune and procured a Bakkouto, which was proof of the Kasumiohji Clan's betrayal, the Thirteen Court Guard Squads were allowed to intervene. Their target, Gyokaku Kumoi, gives a simplified version of Bakkouto to the remaining members of his assassins and counterattacks, but they are not enough against the Soul Reapers. Around the same time, Shu and Rukia head to the back of the palace's grounds to find Rurichiyo.
The battle at the Kasumiohji Clan's palace between the Thirteen Court Guard Squads and the Kasumiohji Clan's assassins continues. Against the Soul Reapers, the assassins use Bakkoutos, which forcibly emit more power than the wielder himself can actually produce. The assassins are going crazy, having been completely taken over by their swords. Their bodies cannot withstand the power produced, and they begin to fall apart. But the assassins do not stop fighting, and the Soul Reapers are bewildered. With the help of Ikkaku's group, the battle gradually falls in the Soul Reapers' favor. Meanwhile, a Hell Butterfly appears before Ichigo's group.
The chaos in the Kasumiohji Clan was all a scheme formulated by Shusuke Amagai. Shusuke joined the Thirteen Court Guard Squads in order to avenge his father's death at the hands of Head Captain Yamamoto. For years, Shusuke has been seeking an opportunity to kill him. Ichigo runs over to the Squad Three barracks and takes over for the Head Captain in the fight against Shusuke. Ichigo struggles against the flames of Shusuke's Bankai. Shusuke's Bakkouto even seals off the power of Ichigo's Zangetsu. But Ichigo's speed, which was supposedly limited, gradually increases. And little by little, he is able to turn the battle around in his favor.
Shusuke Amagai wields both a Bakkouto, which seals the powers of Soul Reapers, and his Bankai, Raika Gouenkaku. Ichigo defends against Shusuke's Bankai while Hollowfied and counterattacks with his most powerful Getsugatensho. When Shusuke is hit straight on by Getsugatensho, his body reaches its limit, and his Bakkouto goes out of control and envelops him with an ominous amount of Spirit Energy. But a moment later, a fierce attack from Shusuke's Raika Gouenkaku sends Ichigo flying. But Shusuke, instead of being taken over by the rampaging Bakkouto, is controlling the sword himself. Then he turns the sword onto the Head Captain and Rurichiyo again.
The Hueco Mundo Arc, which was put on hold for the New Captain Shusuke Amagai Arc, resumes. Ichigo, Rukia, Uryu, Chad, and Renji break into Hueco Mundo, the headquarters of Sosuke Aizen and his Arrancars, to rescue Orihime. But the group is confronted by the powerful Espadas, and they are defeated one after another. Ichigo, on the other hand, rescues Orihime after overcoming various obstacles and defeating Arrancar number six, Grimmjow Jeagerjaques. But then, he finds yet another Espada, Nnoitora, standing in his way.
Uryu and Renji thought they had escaped, but they find themselves back at Szayelaporro's palace. There, Szayelaporro, dressed in something new, shows up with a daring smirk on his face. His palace has been built exactly as he wishes. Uryu and Renji are at a loss, and Szayelaporro takes out Zanpakuto and flaunts it in front of them. On top of that, a mysterious liquid oozes out of his back... Meanwhile, Ichigo continues to fight. But Nnoitora proves to be much stronger than him, and Ichigo is slowly forced into a corner.
After finding Nel hiding in the shadow of a rock, Nnoitora tells Ichigo's group that Nel is actually a former Espada. Ichigo and his friends were deceived so that Nel would enter deep into Las Noches. But Ichigo trusts in Nel and pays no mind to the new information. Ichigo keeps on fighting even after getting hurt in order to protect Nel. But when he suffers an intense attack by Nnoitora, Ichigo collapses at last. Ichigo is unable even to move, but Nnoitora keeps attacking him.
Uryu and Renji continue fighting their clones. But no matter how many times they beat them, the clones turn back into liquid, multiply, and revive. The two of them expect a futile fight against these clones that keep increasing in number, but then, Uryu finds a slight difference between them and the clones. What's more, Renji gets a flash of inspiration, and they somehow manage to successfully destroy Szayelaporro's palace and escape. But Szayelaporro still has a confident smirk on his face. And then, using La Lujuriosa's brainpower, he reels out a new attack.
A new captain joins Squad Three, taking the place of the rebel Gin Ichimaru. His name is Shusuke Amagai. Shusuke is an unknown captain who was away on a long-term assignment and has only recently returned to the Seireitei. The members of the Squad Three are still scarred by the way their previous captain left them, and they are unable to hide their mixed emotions. Meanwhile, Shusuke brings Soul Reaper Makoto Kibune to appoint to the third seat.
In the middle of the night, a strange Senkaimon opens in Karakura Town, and a mysterious team of three arrives in the World of the Living. That morning, when Ichigo and Rukia go to school, they get word of a Hollow sighting. Ichigo prepares to go slay the Hollow as usual. But from their Soul Phone, they see that the number of Hollows is rapidly increasing. Ichigo and Rukia are taken aback by the large number of Hollows, but they are quick to take action. While the two of them are slaying Hollows downtown, they run into a young girl's soul. Then, her two male companions arrive.
A mysterious team of three transfers into Ichigo's class. Their names are Rurichiyo Kasumiohji, Kenryu, and Enryu. Rurichiyo acts like a princess, and Kenryu and Enryu obsessively guard her surroundings. Ichigo is clearly suspicious of the three of them, but the rest of his classmates welcome them without question. That night, when the town has gone to sleep, a strange Spiritual Pressure appears. Ichigo senses it, and when he goes outside, he finds Kenryu standing on the roof of a house.
Ichigo and Rukia assume the responsibility of being Rurichiyo's bodyguard. It is Rurichiyo's first time in the World of the Living, and she asks Ichigo to teach her about everything she sees. Rukia takes Rurichiyo out to play. Kenryu and Enryu cry tears of joy at seeing Rurichiyo have fun in the World of the Living thanks to Ichigo and Rukia. Ichigo asks them what they're planning to do next, but Kenryu gives an evasive answer. That night, Yuzu invites Rurichiyo to dine at the Kurosaki's house.
Since welcoming Shusuke Amagai as the new captain, Squad Three has been hard at work. But the duties Shusuke assigns them are tasks that one couldn't imagine a Soul Reaper doing. Izuru Kira senses the dissatisfaction of the squad members, and as Lieutenant, he decides to advise the new captain. However, he is admonished instead, as Shusuke tells him that they need to work steadily in order to regain the trust that was lost when Gin Ichimaru betrayed the squad. Meanwhile, Makoto Kibune, who filled the vacant third seat, demonstrates his true power and slowly mixes in amongst the squad members.
One morning, Rurichiyo suddenly disappears. Kenryu finds some indication that leads him to believe that she used the Kasumiohji Clan's private Senkaimon to return to the Soul Society. He heads back to the Soul Society along with Ichigo and Rukia to look for Rurichiyo. Meanwhile, Rurichiyo runs into Gyokaku Kumoi at the mansion, but she manages to talk her way out and leave on a trip. Ichigo and the gang arrive in the Soul Society soon after she has departed. They decide to split up and look for Rurichiyo. While searching, Rukia runs into Kenpachi Zaraki. Kenpachi finds out that Ichigo has also come, and he pressures Rukia to take him to Ichigo.
Ichigo returns to the World of the Living, and he draws up a countermeasure at Kisuke Urahara's shop. According to Kisuke, there is a shortage of a kind of Reishi that is used as a raw material for merchandise at the shop. He says it is not a natural phenomenon, but that it is highly likely that someone is behind it all. When everyone leaves Urahara's shop, they come across Hanza Nukui, the head of an assassination squad, and they begin fighting at various places in Karakura Town. In the meantime, Gyokaku Kumoi takes secret measures to manipulate who will become the Kasumiohji Clan's successor.
Hanza Nukui, the leader of Gyokaku Kumoi's assassins, has misjudged the power of Ichigo and his friends, and has failed to assassinate Rurichiyo. He forms a unit of assassins, armed with powerful Bakkouto swords, and prepares to go back to the World of the Living. Around that time, in the World of the Living, Kenryu and Enryu put up a barrier around their house, and everyone takes turns watching after Rurichiyo. Rurichiyo notices she is under close guard, but she has not been filled in on the situation and is thus clearly confused. That evening, Rurichiyo tells Ichigo that she thinks she is constantly causing trouble to those around her. Just then, Gyokaku Kumoi's assassins appear in the World of the Living.
Hanza Nukui and his team of assassins, armed with Bakkoutos, arrive in the World of the Living, and they challenge Ichigo and the others to fight. When Ichigo and Hanza take off to fight one on one, a creepy assassin, Jinnai Douko, appears before Rurichiyo, wielding a Bakkouto. Jinnai eats his Bakkouto to become one with it, and he attacks. Uryu encounters the Bakkouto-wielding Kuzuryu. Chad is confronted by Genga, who attacks with a Bakkouto that makes walls wherever he strikes-- something a former defeated opponent of Ichigo had. Chad is baffled that this assassin is using the same sword.
The respective battles of Rukia, Uryu, and Chad continue. Jinnai Douko becomes one with his Bakkouto, Retsurai, and keeps attacking. Rukia has a tough battle against Jinnai, whose whole body transforms into a weapon. Uryu, who is fighting against Kuzuryu, is trapped inside a sea of mist, unable to sense the whereabouts of his opponent. Chad gets into a contest of strength with his adversary, Genga, who uses his Bakkouto, Kakuyoku. And Ichigo struggles against Hanza Nukui and his Bakkouto, Saiga, which becomes more powerful by stealing the Spirit Energy of others. However, Ichigo caught on to his opponent's weakness the last time he faced him, and he decides to attack his Achilles' heel.
Hanza Nukui uses his Bakkouto, Saiga's weak point, to act as a trap for Ichigo. Ichigo ends up getting caught in Hanza's scheme, an expanse of mirrors. The mirrors take the memories of the captive and turn them into nightmares. Ichigo sees his late mother, Masaki, and is forced to relive his memories of her up to her death. He is psychologically overwhelmed and finds himself powerless against the illusion. At that moment, an immense amount of Spiritual Pressure radiates from Ichigo.
At a captain's meeting in the Soul Society, Shusuke Amagai proposes to the Thirteen Court Guard Squads that they train directly with the squads. But Kenpachi Zaraki and Mayuri Kurotsuchi speak out against the idea, and the captains object due to their lack of interest. Jushiro Ukitake and Shunsui Kyoraku encourage Shusuke, as they too feel that the captains should cooperate a little more. Then one day, the Soul Reapers get word that Menos have infiltrated the Seireitei. Each squad immediately jumps into action to show up the other squads, but the Menos are nowhere to be found.
