Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) finally learns the truth about his biological connection to Blue (Ethan Hutchison). Elsewhere, Violet (Tina Lifford) and Hollywood (Omar J. Dorsey) return home from Venice, Italy. Nova (Rutina Wesley) meets with book executives who are interested in her work, and Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) meets with Sam Landry (David Jensen) to solidify their new partnership. After their meeting, Charley exposes her hidden plan for Landry Enterprises to Ralph Angel. Later, everyone arrives at Collings High School to root for the St. Jo team, where things take an unexpected turn when four teenagers take a knee in silent protest. Micah is captivated by the teen protesters. Later in the evening, Charley makes a startling discovery about Officer Orson, the cop who traumatized Micah. The following day, Nova meets with the teen protesters to hear their story.

Violet (Tina Lifford) receives a business proposition that she cannot refuse though she is faced with significant setbacks in finding a location to bake her pies. Meanwhile, Nova’s (Rutina Wesley) article on the teen protesters does not reflect her true work, and when she confronts her editor, his response forces her to evaluate the next steps of her career. Elsewhere, Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) remains focused on carrying out her original plan for Landry Enterprises, despite pushback from Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield). Ralph Angel’s (Kofi Siriboe) issues with Blue’s (Ethan Hutchison) behavior reach a boiling point. And finally, Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) makes a heartfelt plea to transfer schools, and he is later flooded with emotions when the officer who arrested him is exposed.

Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) starts his new school with excitement, where he befriends the teen protestors from the basketball game. Elsewhere, Hollywood and Violet attend Hollywood’s reunion together, where someone from Hollywood’s past insults Violet. Later, Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) tells Nova about her plan to topple Sam Landry’s (David Jensen) empire, and Nova strongly disapproves. Micah overhears the conversation and while discussing it with Nova, she extends comfort. Finally, Darla (Bianca Lawson) returns.

Darla reveals her plans to stay for good, and her words hurt Ralph Angel deeply. Meanwhile, Charley discovers Prosper Denton’s eviction notice from Landry Enterprises, and she confronts Jacob Boudreaux. Charley then meets with a private investigator to find more information on the Landry and Boudreaux families. Elsewhere, Violet’s cooking schedule gets unexpectedly derailed, and Violet explains her desire to remain independent to Hollywood. Nova visits Remy and his students on the farm where she shares something personal. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) and Trinh go on a date, but their plans for the future are sidelined when Ralph Angel receives custody paperwork from Darla (Bianca Lawson). Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe), Asha, Ant, KJ, and Malik almost fully execute their plan at Sweetbay Plantation, but when things go wrong, they’re left to wrestle with the aftermath. Nova finally tells Charley the truth about Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield), and later that evening, Remy also talks to Charley about their relationship. Charley then makes her feelings about Remy’s character very clear.

Meanwhile, when Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) and Darla (Bianca Lawson) form a united front to teach Blue (Ethan Hutchison) how to ride a bicycle, they finally find some peace. Elsewhere, Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) expresses his regret to Ant, and Ant has a surprising response. While going over her wedding seating chart, Violet notices the tension between Charley and Nova (Rutina Wesley). Nova then reveals the end to her romance with Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield), and Violet expresses her disappointment. Later at the Fellowship Hall, Violet’s busy schedule lands her in the ER, and she finally reveals her lupus diagnosis to the family. Finally, the Council makes a decision about the correctional facility, and Micah remains fiercely determined to make a change.
