About this show

In The Last Ship season five, the world is finally recovering from the deadly virus that decimated the population, but global political unrest still remains. Tom Chandler has retired and his former crew has scattered, many having risen ranks within the Navy. Sasha Cooper, Lieutenant Danny Green, SBS WO-N Wolf Taylor and Sergeant Azima Kandie are on a covert mission in Panama. When they are wrongly blamed for an attack on the Panamanian President, the consequences for the United States are dire. The Nathan James must fight to prevent invasion by Latin America and the next world war. Season five is The Last Ship at its most epic, upping the ante on action and excitement, but at its core, it is a meditation on the costs of prolonged war and the toll it takes on the heroes who fight it.

Although it seems sometimes that the "lethal virus" plot has been overused (Planet of the Apes, etc), this is a fresh take on the idea. I have wondered what would happen to a sub crew on extended missions that went silent, only to surface and find the world gone from some cataclysm. This is very close to that idea. I'm also an Adam Baldwin fan - thought he was great in Firefly. It certainly has my attention. (It's also showing on the same night with Falling Skies.)

Awesome show, I know a lot of people think the technical side needs help or Russians flying CH53 but none of that takes away from the core of the show. It's not a documentary otherwise it would air on the history channel. The show does a great job of showing how people react and situations escalate in a world outside of what we are used to every day.

Sucked me in I am gonna continue to watch this. Also to everyone destroyer's are not made of wood they can and are built to take damage it is not going to go down easy. Those were airborne missiles not torpedo's so of course the ship did not sink... But it should have taken damage tho that I can agree with. It looks like it took no damage at all lol.
