If you pay attention to the first two minutes of every episode, including the first one, it tells you this story is based on true events that occurred in 2006. That's the problem with these ratings...operator error. Great show so far. One of the best on TV right now.

Awesome TV show from FX who are churning out more and more good programming. Fargo was one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time. I wouldn't call this a drama really. Its pretty dark but there are some comedic moments that are provided by the characters, especially Martin Freeman who is so good as Leonard Nygaard...He gets to take off his training wheels in episode one and learns how to ride through life. Lorne Malvo -Billy Bob Thornton is the newest fab anti-hero. He's a no-nonsense hit man who

When I heard they were making a TV series from the movie _Fargo_ I had my doubts. I have watched the pilot episode and I know now that my doubts were unnecessary. This is a good TV show. It has the same look and feel as the movie, with some big name talent to lend it chops. The show is offbeat and dark and the pilot, at least, has an edge as you learn how dark they're willing to go. This one matches my tastes 5 out of 5. I recommend it.
