"First Family of Hip Hop" follows the children and grandchildren of Sylvia Robinson, the legendary singer, producer and record label executive who founded Sugar Hill Records, which introduced hip hop to the mainstream with the hit song, "Rapper's Delight." Now, the younger generation of the Robinson family is eager to forge their own legacy and take Sugar Hill Records to the next level. Sylvia's son, Leland, currently oversees the company, but his children and nephew represent the future of the record label. Leland wants to sit back while the publishing checks roll in. The younger generation is racing to get their own piece of the pie. LeA is working with Lady Luck to create new music, but when her birthday falls on the same day as her cousin's new girlfriend, LeA learns that the world doesn't revolve around her. Darnell has his own musical ambitions, but he's spending too much time producing a new artist against Eseni's will. The Robinsons will discover just how far they are willing to go in order to regain their spot on the throne of hip-hop.
