When Calls the Heart is an amazing scripted period show. The acting, Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin as the main characters and all the secondary and extra characters, is amazing. The writing, Brian Bird, is beyond wonderful in that it makes a 1910 western Canadian coal mining town resonant with modern viewers and truly is a show the whole family can watch and enjoy together. Michael Landon Jr.'s direction is phenomenal and ties the whole wondeful package together. I have never purchased shows while they are still airing to re-watch but I am doing it with this wonderful show. I wish there were more than 5 stars to give.

This is absolutely my favorite show to watch live every week, as well as over & over again on my computer! I love the fact that it is family-friendly. There is not the profanity, sex, and violence that seems to be apparent in most all other televsion programming. As a mother, it's nice to know I can watch this show over & over again with my small children running around and not have to worry about them seeing anything they shouldn't. I have recommended this show to all my family & friends and everyone who has watched it has enjoyed it. It appeals to both sexes and all ages. The writing is fantastic, as well as the storylines and the acting is wonderful. I LOVE this show and can honestly say that I run to the television every week to watch it live to find out what happens next! I highly recommend buying the full season and watching it! You will not be disappointed and you will definitely get your money's worth because you will want to watch it over & over again like I do!

But this show might be intimidating to some men. The male lead is a man of high moral character, but he is not boring. He does some typically dumb male things, but then owns up to them. A good example for men of all ages. Great stories and character development. The acting is outstanding.
