Dia Engel

Das Projekt Dia Engel ist ein bundesweites, ehrenamtliches Projekt, welches zum Ziel hat,
kostenlose und nachhaltige Unterstützung am Telefon und im Chat zu geben.
Betroffene mit Diabetes (auch Kinder und Jugendliche mit Diabetes), Angehörige, das soziale
Umfeld und Menschen, die Fragen zum Thema Diabetes haben, sind das Klientel der Dia
Engel.
Das Projekt Dia Engel bietet Betroffenen und Angehörigen die Möglichkeit, in einem
geschützten Raum über ihre Probleme und Fragen reden zu können. Die Gespräche mit den
Dia Engeln sind anonym, das heißt die Anrufer: innen sind geschützt und können offen
sprechen, ohne Angst vor negativen Konsequenzen haben zu müssen. Das Gefühl mit
jemandem zu reden, der einem positiv zugewandt ist und Mitgefühl und Sympathie zeigt,
bietet Entlastung für die Anrufenden und hilft. Dass die Anrufer: innen bei den Dia Engeln mit
Menschen sprechen können, die persönlich oder in ihrem nahen Umfeld Erfahrungen mit
Diabetes machen, lässt eine zusätzliche Ebene der (oftmals psychischen) Entlastung bei den
Anrufenden entstehen. Hier liegt der Fokus besonders auf dem entgegengebrachten und
gegenseitigen Verständnis, dass Menschen mit Diabetes und ihren Angehörigen im Alltag
fehlen kann, wenn kein Kontakt zu anderen (Mit-)Betroffenen besteht.
