Ratings and reviews

This book got a poor response from fans of the Alex Bannister series and I understand why. Its not typical of the series, which usually focuses on a historical (in the context of the several thousand years from now setting of the series) mystery. There really isn't that type of mystery here and the book spends more time on the personal lives of the two main characters then is the norm. But the story is interesting, even if the end seems a bit incomplete.

My least favorite of the Alex novels, but still enjoyable. Same basic formula where Alex gets a notion in his head, and will not let go. The storytelling seemed a little fragmented at times. My 4-star rating may be a little biased because I love these characters, but I still feel it was worth my time. Enjoy!

Jack McDevitt is likely my favorite author. This isnt his best work but, as with ALL of his stuff, it's worth the read!
