About this ebook

Can a ghost haunt a ghost?
Can the dead reach out and touch the living?
Can ancient evil be made manifest?

These are the questions that confront paranormal investigator David Ash in James Herbert's The Ghosts of Sleath, when Ash is sent to the picturesque village of Sleath in the Chiltern Hills to look into mysterious reports of mass hauntings. What he discovers is a terrified community gripped by horrors and terrorized by ghosts from the ancient village's long history. As each dark secret is unveiled and terrible, malign forces are unleashed, he will fear for his very sanity.

Sleath. Where the dead will walk the streets.

Continue the chilling series from the Master of Horror, with Ash.

Disappointing. I didn't understand what was going on! Did I miss the paranormal research part? Why is there so much child abuse hinted at but never explained? What's with the gratuitous sex scene with Ash and Grace? It seemed like he was shocked to discover she was a real human and not some heavenly being. I felt like it was included to fill up space. The heroine, Grace, doesn't shed any light on the town's secrets. Ash seems to think she's saintly as she drifts around, asking dumb questions. I developed a headache after reading 80% of this foolishness and skipped to the end.

The second book in the David Ash series, preceded by Haunted and succeeded by Ash, this is by far the best book James Herbert ever wrote. I feel like I have read it a trillion times already and yet I never grow tired of it. If you are a chiller/horror fan or just like Herbert then The Ghosts of Sleath is the book for you.
